My favorite quote is “Starve your distractions and feed your focus”. To me this quote means to nourish what ever is currently the focus in your life. If you’re working towards a goal, then you should feed & nurture that goal like a baby. When you put your time, energy, thoughts & actions towards a goal you are essentially feeding it because the more you focus/feed something, the more it grows/manifest. I pursued a creative career because I grew up immersed in a world where creativity was part of everyday life. My mother owned a salon for over 20 years, and my aunt is an interior designer, along with our family’s business in flooring, design, staging, and real estate exposed me early on to the profound impact of aesthetics and design. But it was fashion that truly captivated my heart, turning into a personal creative passion that constantly intrigued me. Art was always my passion. I loved drawing, painting and creating all sorts of things as a child. I remember digging tunnels in the dirt and making things out of the red clay on the banks of a pond near my childhood home. On more than one occasion I used construction paper and tape to create elaborate houses, characters and furniture to occupy myself. Deciding to major in art for my undergraduate degree was an easy decision. Starting out, I thought I would pursue art education, but in just the first week of school as a college freshman, I overheard someone in my art class talking about art therapy.
