We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamaica Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamaica, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is “Starve your distractions and feed your focus”. To me this quote means to nourish what ever is currently the focus in your life. If you’re working towards a goal, then you should feed & nurture that goal like a baby. When you put your time, energy, thoughts & actions towards a goal you are essentially feeding it because the more you focus/feed something, the more it grows/manifest. So be sure, to avoid anything that can distract you or cause you to doubt yourself. Starve it by simply not giving anything to it. Not even a thought.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is So Sage Cosmetics where I offer all natural skin care, cosmetics & accessories. So Sage offers a variety of all natural products ranging from cleansers, to exfoliating scrubs and moisturizing serums & butters. What I’m most excited about with So Sage is the services I will be offering as a Licensed Esthetician this winter. I have been wanting to expand my business and knowledge of skin care for years so I’m very excited to be finally offering a relaxing & uplifting experience. I got where I am today by never giving up. Getting back up after I fell down and not letting a failure stop me but rather teach me. There were many times I struggled or felt lost being a business owner but I never gave up. Every day that I woke up, I did my best at everything that I was doing whether I felt good or bad, whether I looked good or bad, I still showed up and showed out! I kept faith in God, myself and my dream. I clung to God in times of uncertainty. I heavily believe that when you put God first, he will guide you and align you with your hearts desires. What I want the world to know about me and So Sage is that, if I can do it, you most certainly can do it too!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was coming to Aiken to visit I would definitely take them to 306 on York. 306 on York is a black owned bar & grill, I love 306 on York because the owners are very involved with the community and they make sure you enjoy yourselves every time you visit. 306 on York has tasty food, music that’ll make you dance and a vibe that’s unmatched in Aiken!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout-out to my mentor & friend for life, Kendra Barnes. You brought me a long with you to your business events and you don’t know how much that sparked the dream that I am pursuing today! Thank you for all your love & guidance!!
