We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasia Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tasia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, but I was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia. My upbringing was kind of rocky . My mom didn’t have much but she did her best . On top of having my oldest child at 13 things were hard. It made me realize that just because you have a child young doesn’t mean you have to be statistic . You can prove society wrong. You can be a teen mom & a good mom . Not only that you can be a success mother as well . Also looking back at where I come from it always reminds me to stay humble because it can all me taken away .

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Im a licensed Loctician. My clients say what sets me aside from the rest of the people they have been to is I have super clean parts and they say my “vibe is unmatched” . I’m proud of myself for actually being able to make a living off of my talent and I’m excited to expand my business and my craft . Learning and perfecting other services and also adding wigs, bundles, and hair oil . I never thought I would be doing hair . I had my daughter and was having health issue and was dealing with postpartum depression so after I have my daughter I put my two weeks in at my job . I knew I had to do something for money and I used to Retwist my friends hair so I knew somewhat what I was doing . It was just supposed to be a for the moment kind of thing . It’s became my career . It wasn’t easy at first once I gained my clientele I ended up moving to another city so I think one of my biggest challenges was rebuilding my clientele . Especially since I went into a shop with no clientele . I want the world to know Myself and my brand will continue to grow and expand no matter what cards are dealt . Good or bad , We will also come out on top and shine . Big business Never the “little” one

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestfriend was coming to visit we would definitely have to go get food and drinks at Esb Lounge, Stone Pin bowling it has a bar in it (usually has Groupons), have a picnic at Unity Park, Eat at Jamaican Mi Irie, go to Wine & Design (sip & paint), & it’s a little drive but if you want some really good soul food GrannyHands & Landis in Greenwood has some amazing food.
