We had the good fortune of connecting with Simone Holloway and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Simone, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The value or principle that matters the most to me is Integrity. I believe integrity is the principle that allows us to do good work and to really build trust in our community.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an attorney. I have been in practice for about three years now. I am a first-generation minority lawyer, so overcoming obstacles is a necessary component of my journey. I got to where I am professionally by the grace of God and the kindness of my community. My family moved to the Greenville area the summer before my thirteenth birthday, and I have been tethered to the Upstate since. From high school teachers who encouraged participation in Youth in Government to college professors who gave me the tools to think critically- those who I have met along my journey have shaped me for success. I am a byproduct of their efforts, their wisdom, and their support. I have the most amazing mentors who have walked this journey of practice with me. In my opinion, being able to connect with others, honoring mentorship, and having great belief in God and oneself are truly the keys to success. These keys have unlocked so many doors!
I would love the world to know that I am just a girl who is a product of big faith and equally big actions. I believed in my dream even when it seemed impossible, and I’ve been blessed to see all of my dreams come true. When others encounter me, I want them to be challenged to believe bigger and to go far, for there is nothing impossible to them that believes, and I mean nothing!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie was visiting me in Greenville for the first time, here’s what we would do:
First, I would take her to one of my favorite brunch spots, Tupelo Honey. We would take a walk downtown on Main Street, where there are amazing boutiques and restaurants. Also, we may catch an improv comedy show with Alchemy Comedy at the theater within one of my favorite coffee shops, Coffee Underground. Then we may take a hike up to Table Rock and end the evening at SIP, Up on the Roof or Juniper for rooftop views.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my mother, Angela Holloway. She is one of the main reasons I am who I am today. My mother’s consistent coaching, godly encouragement, and affirmations of my dreams gave me the courage to pursue law and all of my other ventures. She is my number one supporter, and I truly value her words of wisdom and a seemingly endless supply of love. So, Momma, thank you!
