We had the good fortune of connecting with Samir Muhammad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samir, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started moving clean around the pandemic, so I had time to sit and reflect on a lot of things during that period of time. Initially my thoughts were to create a side hustle and help with more financial stability throughout the pandemic. That eventually shifted to my main focus once I started to understand the value of good business, and started seeing potential and opportunities for immense growth.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At Moving Clean, we offer a few different services such as, deliveries, junk removal, appliance removal, labor, local & long distanced moving, and estate clean outs. Our connection to people, and our understanding of life and circumstances sets us apart from some of the bigger companies. Our will, resilience, determination, and commitment sets us apart from other small businesses. We love what we do, and we believe in what we do. Moving is never easy, but we come in and change the environment. Our motto and goal is very simple, we treat everyone and their belongings with respect, and also treat our clients like family! Honestly, what excited me the most is that we are just now scratching the surface of how great we will become and much we will grow in the near future, the growth excites me the most! Getting here was no easy task, we’ve had a lot of ups and downs throughout the years, but learned to navigate through business and life overall. At first, this was a side hustle to help gain extra funds, but I quickly started to understand how far Moving Clean could go. The moment I decided to take myself seriously is when I started to take this business seriously as well, and I learned quickly what it meant to be a professional. I’ve learned that you can’t wait and wish for your life to change if your habits and mindset doesn’t change. People won’t believe in you unless they can visually see the work you’ve put in, and feel your mark being made! I want the world to know that my story is no different than the next one. There are people with tougher lives that are in worse situations that have made it to where I aspire to be. We all have the ability to learn and lead if we change our minds first. My story is about perspective and perseverance! I know Moving Clean will be the best Moving/Junk removal service in the tri state area because I work towards that, I visualize it, and I believe in myself to see that through. I owe that to myself!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First things first, we’re going to Angelo’s in South Philly as a welcome meal haha. Definitely going to King of Prussia mall or Limerick outlets for new gear and sneakers. We have to stop at the Ardmore Avenue community center, or Narberth and play a couple games of basketball. I’m a big outdoorsman, so some hiking or bike riding on the Schuylkill river trail, Kelly drive, or Wissahickon Valley Park. Eventually would show him around Philly nightlife, places like Noto, Sips, Assembly rooftop, Vesper, and Down. There’s plenty of places to choose from as far as nightlife, we also have a wide variety of different places to eat in Philadelphia and surrounding areas. Maybe grab some dinner at Ocean Prime, Capital grille, Dave & Busters. But if we want to keep it quick and local, I’d go to Ardmore Pizza, Soulfed, Country Cooking, or Chef Keeboom. We have to go to Arnold’s go carting, paint balling, and Thrillz high flying adventure. Check some iconic scenery out like the art museum, rocky statue, museum of illusions, etc.. Last but certainly not least, have to go out with the entire family for a fun day at Main Event, or ice skating rink in Ardmore, Pa

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have 2 major shout outs. First, to all of my clients and anyone who has referred my business to the next person. Without that support, love, and respect from my community, I wouldn’t be where I am today, on the trajectory that I’m on today, without Ardmore, Pa and the Main Line. Most importantly, my wife and long time Partner, Blanche. Honestly, I can go on forever about how appreciative I am of her and what she’s meant to our family’s success. She’s allowed me to pursue my dreams while sacrificing her own. It’s been a tough ride to say the least, but her strength and commitment to me and the process has been incredible. There’s been a few times I doubted myself, money slowed up, workers left, etc… so many different obstacles that we’ve overcome, and I wouldn’t have been able to overcome anything without her. We make the perfect team and our continuing to improve towards perfection. Not only has Blanche been pivotal for Moving Clean, she’s the matriarch of our family, so her job never stops. So really, just a huge shout out to her man! One of the most genuine people the world can know!
