We had the good fortune of connecting with Ray Corley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ray, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor for my brand success would be learning to be consistent with being persistent. The success comes with learning how to be comfortable being uncomfortable. You have to always understand that there will always be challenges, trials and tribulations. When you’re starting something from the bottom. When you have no blueprint. When you have to create the floor plan to build your foundation most of the time it’s going to be a long and you’re going to be very uncomfortable you have to learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
IsShoes pronounced issues which everybody has them in life. The name alone speaks for the masses. We all have issues. We all have something, a trial or tribulation that we have to overcome to get to where we actually want to go without putting in work. We know that there is no way we win in the end. I’m most proud of not quitting. A lot of people want the achievements and goals. I just want to be here. I want longevity. Covid was a big factor in businesses failing, staying afloat was a trial that we overcame by focusing on learning more business then actually performing a service.

I’ve learned don’t look for support. Just keep supporting your craft in the right support will come to you.

I actually started my brand while being incarcerated. Fun fact! I understand that everybody’s story is different. Everybody journey is different. My story is a lot different from most people cuz I took dark time in my life and created light for everyone. The sneaker world is a big world and us as the surgeons of the world healing shoes. It brings happiness and joy back into the sneaker world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’re from a small town so I mean it ain’t going to take a week to do everything maybe two days but in the surrounding areas we have a lot of things going on so as far as eating I would probably go to cuzzo cusines, halal streetfood, in multiple other restaurants hanging out, I love nature so we will probably go to a lot of parks. Topgolf is a place. I would love to take anyone. Of course I would take them to club mirage, and other comedy clubs. Seeing that I’m a comedian myself.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family they all play a part in getting me here, My child’s mother. She plays a big significant role in my success. my customers and supporters last but not least my higher power that gives me life strength and wisdom every day.
