We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisha Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alisha, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
In business you need to have a “people first” mentality. This means that you understand that all people (employees, contractors, customers, strategic partners, etc.) are vitality important to your success.

Relationships are important, so you need to lead with empathy first. Understand that as a business, if you do great things for the people in the communities in which you serve, the people will be good to you in return.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Edible Voyages, we offer an extraordinary walking food tour experience, showcasing the best local cuisine, culture, and history. What sets us apart is our commitment to exceptional customer service, our passion for food, and our love of all people.

I am most proud of the joy and laughter that our guests experience together. It is not just the hidden gems that we take them to, the amazing local cuisine they get to taste, or the tasty libations, but it is also the fact that most of them come as strangers and leave as friends. At Edible Voyages, we believe that food helps foster human connections!

We got to where we are today by focusing on ways to help our communities. We understand that if we do great things to support our communities, we will do great as a business.

It has not been an easy road because the road to success can be long. We have learned that you have to be willing to take risks, pivot when necessary, and not be afraid to fail. We believe that sometimes the greatest blessings come because of failures.

We want people to know that we are not just a walking tour, we are so much more than that. Our goal is to bring people together and support local economies at the same time. At Edible Voyages, we are one big happy family sharing the greatest experience, one tasty bite at a time!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite places to go in the city are on our Edible Voyages Downtown Walking Food and History Tour. I can’t tell you where they are because that is the beauty of the tour. You don’t know where you are going.

I can give you a few hints though. Many of the places we visit offer multiple things to do like cooking classes, trivia, open mic nights, live music, live jazz, singer/songwriter showcases, wine tastings, beer tastings, and many more amazing things.

You will certainly have to come on a tour and experience it all for yourself.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I must say that many people played a role in my success including my amazing parents. They built a strong foundation of love and support for me to stand on. I would not be the woman that I am today without the lessons and values they instilled in me. They taught me that the only person standing in the way of my dreams was me.

I’m also so grateful that I have amazing friends, family, and business partners that have supported me along the way. They all taught me that iron sharpens iron, and without them I would not be where I am today.
