We had the good fortune of connecting with Allen Rouse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allen, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I have been making music for a decade now. For the latter half of this decade, I joined the United States Air Force. So my work life has taken up most of my time and I use music to de-stress from the military life. It is challenging at times to create. However, I don’t force myself to create I let it come to me naturally.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So there is two sides to me. Ace Rouse (the artist) and MarcusTheory (the producer). Ace Rouse is the voice of my mind. MarcusTheory is the creative side of my mind. These two personas sometimes trade back and forth on my tracks. The subject matter of what is being said determines who is speaking at that moment. I am an authentic artist who puts my human experience into music form. Right now, I am not “officially” a professional within my field. However, my experience and sheer love for music is what has gotten me here now. Being in the military has made is very challenging to contiune down this path but I’ve stuck to it and definitely want continue pursuing because my time in the military is coming to an end soon. I’ve learn to stay authentic. The music comes out better when you’re speaking and playing from the heart. The world needs to listen to Ace Rouse. I think there are people out there that will relate to my experiences and maybe I could help them through a tough time or even feel the room with vibes for the soul. If there is anything that you want to do in this life, it is never too late to go for your dreams. Always follow your heart. I am always willing to talk to fans and other artist/producers.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Right now, I reside in California. So if they came here I would have a list of cities to check for the week. We will start off in Los Angeles. Visting the Santa Monica pier, eating at Bubba Gump and enjoying the beach while we’re out there. Next we’ll work our way up the coast visiting towns that I’ve frequent during my time here. All of these place will definitely take up the whole week. Tons of driving!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to OGYUNGGOD. We grew up together. He was pivotal in the start of my music career. We branched off from different paths but we still stay in contact when it comes to music. OGYUNGGOD is an amazing producer and authentic artist/poet. We are one in the same but with different nuances.
