We had the good fortune of connecting with Collington Avenue and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Collington, why did you pursue a creative career?
Our mother has always taught us the importance of representing ourselves well in society and that has lended itself into the way we’ve dressed throughout our lives. Through that we have discovered our love for fashion and creating curated looks, which speak to our individual styles. Thus Collington Avenue was born from that. Collington is our mother’s maiden name that she gave to us as middle names, and our fashion blog is an ode to her. We’ve also strived to show young women they don’t have to spend more to look better. For us, it’s all about the piece and not the brand.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I think something that sets us apart is that we are twins, and in being twins one would think we have similar styles but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Whether you enjoy a more reserve d, chic style or a more edgier, sporty style we provide style inspiration for an array of women. We are so proud of our range! It was definitely not easy and growing a following has and still is challenging, but we believe in our art and creativity. So challenges may come but we will continue to be persistent. We’ve learned along the way that followers don’t dictate your success and we’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some amazing brands! Through our brand we want to encourage our followers to always be their authentic selves through their fashion choices.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well we live in Greenville, SC and it is actually in the top 10 most beautiful downtowns in the nation. So we’d definitely say, the first stop on the itinerary would be to go downtown! Downtown has so many wonderful places to eat, but to name a few of our favorites we’d have to say: Bricktops, Coral, Up On the Roof and Ink N Ivy. Any of these provide great drink choices, but Gather Greenville, their margarita flights are to die for. For fun activities, we’d take them biking on the Swamp Rabbit Trail or hiking on Paris Mountain.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, our biggest shoutout would be to our mother for sparking this creative journey. But also to all of our friends who hold us accountable in continuing this journey! And lastly to our followers and supporters who continue to engage with our content.
