Meet Khori Mitchell | Event Planner & Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Khori Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khori, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose to begin event planning because I love being creative. There’s something about satisfying my clients and making their events special that makes me happy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m most proud of stepping out on faith and starting my small business. Initially, I would only decorate events for my family and friends. I remember my dad telling me to “ stop playing and take my business more seriously.” I honestly didn’t believe people would see value in my work and pay for my services. It wasn’t easy getting to where I am today. It took a lot of research, time, and dedication. As a self-taught event planner, I still have room for improvement. One lesson I’ve learned along the way is to always be prepared, patient, and reliable. I want people to know that I take pride in my business and strive to provide my clients with the best experience possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We could visit Santee State Park, Joe Miller Park. We could grab a bite to eat at Santee Steak & Seafood, Clark’s Restaurant, Cracker Barrel, Santee Seafood Bistro, Alleanas, or Emeri’s Eatery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
