We had the good fortune of connecting with Yue and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yue, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursue an artistic or creative career because I’ve always believed my creativity should be shown to the world. Growing up, I’ve always been more artistically driven than anything and it’s taught me how to express my creativity through different mediums. I couldn’t see myself doing anything but creating imagery. Once I decided that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life I never looked back.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a fashion photographer I strive to make my work recognisable off first glance. In the world of fashion photography lots of work gets lost due to the lack of individuality and I don’t want to fall victim to that. I’m most excited about what lies ahead. I’ve worked hard to bring my creative visions into the world and I feel like this is only just the beginning of my journey as an artist. I think what I’ve learned through this entire journey is to believe in your abilities and never sell yourself short. The passion behind your work will be seen and when things are hard, it’s a reminder that growing was never easy so you’re doing the right things. I want the world to know that my name is Yue and this is just the beginning.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a Chicago native depending on the weather I love to just go on walks and get lost within the city. I would definitely take them to Chinatown the food there is like no other. I’ve been really into bowling so we would definitely have a night out to go bowling and maybe visit and arcade bar as well. Chicago rooftop views are the best so I’d take them to a rooftop bar to enjoy some good vibes. The Chicago jazz scene is extremely underrated so I would take them to a jazz club as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say there are several people I’d like to shoutout. The first person being my mom, she’s been my number one supporter from the beginning. Even when I’ve wanted to give up she never lost any hope in me and my abilities. The next person I’d like to shoutout is my older brother Jalan. He’s been such a big influence and the things I enjoy today and I honestly would not have pursued this career path if it wasn’t for him. I’d also like to shoutout my bestfriend Anthony (empathony). Through thick in thin we’ve experienced so much together and I wouldn’t be who I am today if Anthony wasn’t by my side every step of the way. Although we aren’t related in blood, Anthony has been the brother I never knew I needed. The last person I’d like to shoutout is my college professor Verser. Such an inspiring, talented, innovator individual. Verser never failed to push me outside of my comfort zone to bring my visions to life. Truly an amazing college experience because of him and I am truly grateful to experience and take in his knowledge.
