Meet Vaughn Charay* | Actress, Writer, Producer, Director, Talk Show Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vaughn Charay* and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vaughn, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
In short, I’ve always enjoyed entertaining people growing up, and I have a passion for ministry. What a way to be able to combine both, by writing stories and creating a platform, that when God’s people watch, or read it, it can help enhance one’s life for the better in one way or another.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an actress, TV talk show host, radio personality, writer, producer, director, mentor, filmmaker, playwright, photographer and video Grapher.

What sets me apart is my strong will to live a life pleasing unto God, so I try my best to make sure I do my part in life.

I’m proud of my 3 beautiful girls, I’m proud that I’m a very determined woman, despite the many many obstacles that has came my way, I persevered. I’m proud of the positive work I’ve created thus far, where so many people had came to me and stated how encouraged they are, how inspired I’ve made them or just grateful for giving them a chance.

I got to where I am today because I refused to give up, the love and support I’ve received from so many, from winning awards, news paper and magazine write ups, tv interviews etc.

No, it wasn’t easy and still isn’t but it’s doable, when you go to the source (God) for strength you can’t go wrong.

I’ve overcame the challenges with much prayer, encouraging myself, researching, reaching out for help as needed, and investing in myself.

Some lessons I’ve learn, as well as insights I’ve given to others, for one, don’t ever base your situation on someone else’s situation, take that chance even if your inexperienced or don’t have the funds, don’t let that stop you, as you have to start somewhere. We still have the crabs in the barrel folks, when they show you who they are, BELIEVE THEM, don’t make excuses. Understand, that there’s some folks, that may smile and congratulate you, that can lend you a helping hand, yet won’t, even though they were giving a helping hand. Don’t let that discourage you, because God will appoint those directly from him, that will elevate you even further, AMEN.

What do I want people to know about my life, brand or story? My story is definitely one for the books and maybe one day lords willing, I’ll write a movie about my life. The biggest most important thing I want the readers to get a clear understanding on, is that the meaning of life is to service one another. Leave every emotion, thought, plan that’s not of God in the gutter, truly seek that personal one on one relationship with him, so that he can truly open your eye to see what’s at hand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There isn’t a lot of things to do in the small city that I live in, however, maybe we can go to Charlotte NC, and visit a nice comedy show, I love seafood, so maybe a nice seafood restaurant.

Next, visit Charleston SC, take a nice ferry ride, then eat at a nice Italian restaurant.

We can go to Myrtle Beach SC, to a live dinner and movie show, poetry lounge afterwards.

I’m even open to an amusement park, and or sip and paint, painting is actually very relaxing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow yes, first God, my parents, rip Alfonzy and Rosa Vaughn, my oldest daughter Chyanne Lywood and my sister Cynthia Stevens, who is an SC Notary, Life Coach and author of a book, “Life The Mosaic Word”, and family.

I want to thank everyone whom saw my talent, passion and decided to give me a chance, even when I had no body of work to show.

Those who supported me without asking for a dime.

Those who’ve truly prayed, call to check up on me, who has lend a helping hand, shared my works and encouraged me.
