We had the good fortune of connecting with Tori Buck and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tori, is there something you believe many others might not?
“It take money to make money”…FALSE
Sometimes all you have to have is determination and a fabulous work ethic to achieve your dream- a “nothing is going to stop me vibe”. Being able to also be creative while doing it is just an added bonus in my book. Just an observation from my experience and how I got to where I am at in my career as a professional wedding photographer of 21 years. Hard work pays off!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our art is in the form of wedding and event photography. We have been working as wedding photographers for the last 21 years.
First and foremost we are extremely proud of our hard work, team work and dedication, as well as building our artistic brand and (style).
We’ve worked so hard creating our signature style of wedding photography.
The most challenging part for us being in the wedding industry was when Covid started.
We were at the mercy of the pandemic. We had a responsibility to protect ourselves as well as our clients,
We worked with every client so they could have in due time the wedding photography they desired.
While having our own concerns about the destruction of our finances during this period. It was truly stressful.
The lessons we have learned is together we can make it through anything and not to ever doubt the power of self determination.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This would take at least two days. Because if I wanted to show a friend the best time ever, I believe we would start on day one sightseeing the gorgeous downtown historical area of Charleston. Viewing all of the best areas such as Rainbow Row, and grabbing some cool eats and brews at Sesame Burgers and Brews. I would also take them to the Bluffton area and take them to my favorite store, Black Market Minerals, grab some waves and beachy breezes near Coligny Beach, then go grab dinner at one of my favs Chow Daddy’s. Perhaps stay the night and watch the sunrise the next morning.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
100-% my best friend, husband, co-owner of Dandelion Weddings + Co..,also a wedding photographer himself; Jason Vickers,.
Since we have started our venture together in the wedding industry, now, 21 years ago., I can’t even describe the love and support that has been given by the both of us-and ongoing to the present.
We’ve been each others “ride or die” in this journey and that mentality has allowed us to be successful in making our dream come true, and it’s been extremely rewarding.
We also could have not done it without our family’s support. They have been our biggest supporters since day one and we appreciate each and every one of them beyond measure.
We have so much to be grateful for.
