We had the good fortune of connecting with TJ Rumler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TJ, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
TJ Rumler Consulting helps the community and the world by providing schools, nonprofits, and businesses with workshops and consulting services on trauma, mental health, and wellness. This work helps to create a more resilient and supportive society, where people have the tools and resources they need to thrive.

Specifically, we help to:

-Reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. By talking about trauma, mental health, and wellness in open and honest ways, we help to break down the stigma that prevents people from seeking the help they need.

-Increase access to mental health resources. we provide workshops and consulting services to a wide range of organizations, which helps to make mental health resources more accessible to people from all walks of life.

-Promote mental health and trauma awareness and education. TJ Rumler Consulting’s workshops and consulting services teach people about the importance of mental health and how to take care of their own mental well-being.
Support schools and businesses in creating safe and supportive environments. TJ Rumler Consulting helps schools and businesses to develop policies and practices that promote mental health and well-being.

What should our readers know about your business?
From a young age, TJ Rumler has seen firsthand the devastating impacts of poverty, addiction, and racism. These experiences sparked a passion in him to help others, and he eventually chose a career in social work.

After serving in the US Army and working in sales, TJ went back to school to complete a Master’s Degree in Social Work. He has since worked with a variety of populations, including Veterans, individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, individuals with HIV/AIDS, and children who struggle with behavioral and mental illness.

TJ is currently the Director of Leadership Development Programs with the Hispanic Alliance, and he also owns a Trauma Informed Consulting Firm. He is passionate about his work and takes pride in the positive impact he has made on his community.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, TJ has also been recognized for his volunteer work. He is a recipient of the Greenville Business Magazine Best & Brightest, 35 & Under award, as well as volunteer of the year awards from local nonprofits. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Pendleton Place.

One of the highlights of TJ’s career was delivering a TEDx talk on the dangers of exclusionary discipline. He believes that all children deserve access to a safe and supportive learning environment, and he is committed to advocating for those who are most vulnerable.

Outside of work, TJ enjoys traveling, writing, cycling, yoga, and chasing concerts. He believes in the saying, “life is short—buy the tickets.”

What sets TJ apart from others is his deep compassion for others and his commitment to making a difference in the world. He has overcome many challenges in his own life, and he uses his experiences to help others heal and grow.

TJ is an inspiration to us all. He is a living example of how one person can make a difference in the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was visiting Greenville for the fist time I’d take them up and down White Horse Rd. I’d take them to some of my favorite taquerias. I’d take them to OJs. I’d take them to Mike & Jeffs. We’d visit N. Main Soda Shop. They’d get a taste of Greenville in places that are locally owned, and they’d get a taste (literally) of some of Old Greenivlle. After that, we’d definitely peruse downtown. Some of my favorite spots are M. Judson, Unlocked Coffee, Village Grind, and maybe catch a show at the Peace Center.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give some credit to one of my high school counselors, Ms. Barbara Seaborn. Ms. Seaborn pushed me to go back to school after the military and complete my degree. I followed her nudge and completed both of my degrees, and my career has been better than I could have dreamed of.
