We had the good fortune of connecting with Tinesha Croom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tinesha, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Creating a work-life balance can be a challenge but, it is not impossible! The delicate equilibrium between your professional commitments and your personal life. Imagine work as one side of the scale and everything else—family, hobbies, self-care—as the other. The goal is to find that sweet spot where neither side outweighs the other. It’s about making sure your work doesn’t consume all your time and energy, leaving room for the good stuff that makes life, well, not all about work.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career has been an adventure, to say the least! I am currently an Associate Director and Psychology Professor at a college in my hometown. I am most proud of my determination to push forward even when things were the most challenging times in my life. Some life lessons that I have learned along the way are change will always occur so embrace it and hold on. It’s okay to fail but, be sure to adapt and keep moving. Self-care is crucial because you are only as good as you feel. I have also learned that being present is key because time is priceless. You must spend your time wisely on things that are worth the emotional toll. Finally, attitude is everything because life is 10 % of what happens to you and 90 % of how you respond to what happens to you. My life was not easy but, I made the best of what was provided to me and earned the rest. I would like the world to know that it is never too late to start a new journey. Believe in yourself first and others will follow.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend was visiting me I would take them to Lake Murray to relax and enjoy the views as a first step. I am big on relaxation and meditation to stay grounded. I would then take them on a stroll on Riverfront Park to enjoy a leisurely walk along the scenic paths of Riverfront Park. It’s a serene spot to relax, have a picnic, or simply enjoy the view. I would also take them to the zoo to explore my love for animals. Finally, I would take them to my favorite Japanese restaurant Sato’s for a great meal.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a special shout-out to all of my family and friends! Gratitude is the glue that binds our journey, and acknowledging those who’ve lent a helping hand is like painting a canvas of shared experiences. Life, with all its twists and turns, becomes richer when we pause to appreciate the individuals who stood by us in both stormy weather and sunshine. From mentors who shaped our paths to friends who weathered the storms with us, each person leaves an indelible mark on the story of our lives. So here’s to the unsung heroes, the steady rocks, and the guiding stars—thank you for turning the pages of my story into a tapestry of shared moments and shared joys.
