We had the good fortune of connecting with TINA Clarke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi TINA, what role has risk played in your life or career?
There’s a common saying: “No risk no reward.” Many people think that staying in a current job is safe, but for me it was risky. I took my parents’ advice and got a good education and a job. However, I realized that my job was always full of challenges and hardships. No matter how often I changed supervisors, projects, or even entire jobs, the situations kept getting worse and worse. At my final job, I learned a secret and my supervisor couldn’t wait to get rid of me after that. Unfortunately, I was still within my one-year probation at this job. Around the same time, I got very sick with appendicitis and I spent a week in the hospital recovering. Now I know what was happening, my power was literally leaking out of my solar plexus chakra. I knew that I had tried everything to make this career work and I ended up in this strange and dire situation. I decided then to just walk away from my career and become a stay-at-home mom.
I never planned to stay at home, I was always very career-minded. However, this was exactly what I needed. I was there for my children and family and in the meantime, my husband flourished at his job and we ended up paying a lot of debts off. I knew that the Universe was saying, you are doing the right thing. Around 2011, I started exploring spiritual healing and ended up training as a Reiki Master Teacher and Shamanic practitioner. I have been doing this ever since. I am happier than ever, being my boss, and helping hundreds of clients and students. I am so glad I made the risky move to walk away from my career and do something different and fulfilling.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business is Stargazing Angel LLC based in Summerville SC near Charleston. I am one of the few active Reiki and energy healing practices in the area, as well as one of a few Reiki teachers. I am also one of a few shamanic practitioners in the area. Owning your own business is never easy and there were many times I wanted to give up. But what else could I do? To be a healing practitioner is such a great calling and there’s so much reward for this kind of work. My stubborn side never allows me to give up. I had to learn to balance my work and personal life and carve out time for self-care and family time. It’s very easy for business owners to work seven days a week. I want people to know that I am an authentic, empathic, and caring healer. If I can not find a solution for you, I will help you find it! If you have any health challenges, there are many options for you to try, just stay open-minded and try them. I always say the best clients are the desperate ones who feel like they have tried everything and nothing has worked so far, that’s when miracles can happen!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to my absolute favorite place Angel Oak. Then we would spend time at the beach and downtown Charleston. I would take them to the Battery, Rainbow Row, and the French Quarter, and go shopping at the City Market. We would go to Barsa for some Spanish tapas and sangria. I would also take them to Shem Creek and watch the sunset. We would visit numerous plantations, including Boone’s Hall, Magnolia, and Middleton Place.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my husband who always supported me even though he didn’t understand everything I was doing. To my friends, clients, and students for opening their hearts and lives to me. To my daughters, for staying quiet during my client sessions and classes.
