We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I’ve been a creature of habit since I was young, and a lesser known fact about myself is that I was home educated. From a young age, I learned how to manage my time well and wisely to accomplish all of my homework. And this time management habit stretched into college and into my business life when I created Tiffany Writes, LLC. Time blocking, learning to turn off my phone during peak work hours, and narrowing in on my set amount of time has allowed me to stay on task and complete my goals.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Tiffany Writes, LLC is a full-service copywriting business who specializes in long-form content including blogs, articles, websites, case studies, and more. Primarily working with other women-owned businesses, I bring their stories to life through the written word.
I started my business seven years ago, and I didn’t know what I was doing. I created a name, a website, got an EIN, and did all the “business” stuff and still felt clueless. It was a year into my journey until I saw my first paycheck (I directed deposited it on my phone and it’s hanging in my office as a reminder).
Between building a brand, creating marketing materials, finding clients, and learning how to create copy – none of it was easy. I know there were many days and nights I sat there thinking “What am I even doing? Is this even worth it?”
But then I got the emails from clients saying they made a sale because of the new copy. Or another website client would gush via text about how much they loved their homepage. I started to feel this sense of pride in my work. And that feeling pushed me to pursue networking events and cold emails to get to know more people.
Now, seven years later, I can say with confidence that even though the journey was difficult (and still is somedays), I love what I do. I dreamed of being a writer when I was young but never thought this would be my reality.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Greenville, South Carolina is home to so many sights, smells, and good eats! On a week long trip, I would take them to some of my favorite restaurants including Comal 864, Gather GVL, Asada, White Duck Taco Shop, Society Sandwich Bar, Windy City Burger, Local Cue, and Sidewall Pizza.
For drinks, we’ll hit up Camp, Juniper, Southside Brewery, The Commons, Velo Fellow, and Value and Vator.
For sights, we’ll visit Falls Park on the Reedy and enjoy the natural waterfalls and scenery, we’ll take a day trip up to Asheville, and we’l bike along the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people who’ve gotten me to where I am now, and I owe most if not all my success to their love and support.
First and foremost, my parents have been my biggest cheerleaders since I was young. They cared about my interests, nurtured my writing, and were there to brag about me even on the days I wanted to give up.
My husband, Jonathan, has pushed me to do great things ever since we met. He was the one who helped me name my business, and he encouraged me to pursue it on the hardest days. He’s read every blog, looked at every website, and he is always there when I need him.
I have so many friends who’ve taught me multitudes about business. You know who you are, thank you for encouraging me.
