We had the good fortune of connecting with Theresa Sederholt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Theresa, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I’ve always been open and honest with my son. I live by example. My husband’s job has moved us around the country a lot. I’ve taught my son to embrace change. Put yourself in someone else’s shoes before you speak. Never doubt your abilities, you can and should do what you love. Always remember your friends are a reflection of you.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I entered into the author world much later in life. This allowed me to form characters with depth and flaws that I don’t think I would have been able to in my youth. My husband is a professional chef. As his career flourished we moved all over the country. This enabled me to have many different life experiences. I started my career working on the floor of The New York Commodity Exchange, and from there I moved to the floor of The New York Stock Exchange. When we moved to Arizona, I knew I would have to find something that was just as thrilling. I ended up working for a company that made mini trucks into convertibles. That job landed my converted mini truck on the cover of a national magazine, and it was the featured truck at the largest international trade show, SEMA, in Las Vegas. Off to new adventures, I decided to become a flight attendant and then a Starbucks barista. Life finally landed us in North Carolina, and that’s when I decided to attend Campbell University. I graduated top of my class, however, I was now too old to work for the FBI. I had no idea what I was going to do next until my husband said I should pool together all my experiences and write a book. I put everything I knew into a book called The Unraveling of Raven. Twenty books later and a two-time USA Today Bestseller, I finally found my passion.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in North Carolina. We can go two hours in any direction and find skiing, the beach, rock climbing, and of course some of the best culinary experiences. We are surrounded by local craft brewers farmer’s markets, and of course southern hospitality. I would start out with a relaxing day at the beach in Wilmington. After a few cocktails, we can head to Port Land Grille. There we can experience the Jumbo Lump Blue Crab Meat “Cocktail” We can finish off the night with homemade ice cream from Boombalatti’s. On day two we will be off to explore the Battleship North Carolina. On Day three we will tour the NASCAR Hall of Fame. After that, we are off to the Highland games. Men in kilts, yeah, sign me up. Let’s finish off this trip with a visit to The Biltmore Estate in Ashville.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Family is everything to me. They are always cheering me on through life’s adventures. Through the good times and the bad times, they are the backbone of my world.
