We had the good fortune of connecting with Thaddeus Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Thaddeus, how do you think about risk?
Risktaking plays a vital role in development in the sense of learning how to respond to success and failure and what steps you proceed with from that. In 2023 I had my first tour and being that I still work a regular 9 to 5 I had to really buckle down and sacrifice a lot of time, energy and money to go on this tour And be featured with this specific artist. Though we went on the tour and completed it, it did not pan out to anything that we signed contractually, and we took a big financial loss on it. Taking that risk, I learned so much about how I need to move with myself and my team and the time I need to take to cultivate business relationships that can lead into success for those things. And I don’t regret it because although we lost financially, we gained so much knowledge, Built so many relationships, and got affirmation that we are indeed on the right path for what we’re doing with Music
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Everything and that I am as a creative in Charleston, all stems for me just being around and not being afraid to build connections with people. I moved here in 2018 not knowing anybody and after her through happened stance meetings throughout the years things have just unfolded. I released my first album in 2021 entitled Ben Ben, which garnished a few accolades from media publications, and from that I got really deep into becoming a live performer, which is probably my strongest platform. But one of my biggest game changers was becoming a journalist for extra CHill magazine. It truly opened a door to looking at the art from a broader perspective and connected me with some of the most talented young undiscovered talent that I’ve ever had the pleasure to see.
It’s been a multitude of challenges on the way, Internal and external, but beyond just continuing to drive forward as a creative I have to do that in my day-to-day as a man so I think the more solid of a person I am it just reflects everything that I do, which is a lot
Lessons I’ve learned along the way on this journey Are plenty for, but I can drop a few lol
1. Get over yourself- People confuse self-confidence With arrogance and I personally watched ego burn so many bridges and trouble calm waters. We have to understand that, no matter how great we think we are and something that something is still greater than us.
2. Know your role- Knowing your role is vital. Basically, just knowing your place and where you stand amongst the mix of many. May that motivate you to be greater but may it also keep you grounded I think these type of realities really help cultivate and prepare young artist and artist for longevity, music and entertainment as a function and as a business.
3. Do good business.
4. Build a solid team
5. EXPERIMENT- Sort of like taking risk taking this is a detriment to Developing elevating and cultivating your own style in whatever you do. Don’t be afraid to be influenced and explain your creative resources beyond just what you know. Experimentation has completely shifted my sound from 2021 until now.
And I’m not exactly sure what I want the world to know about my story-I’m an open book for that matter so I say shoot the shot. But what I will say is with everything we do we have to love it deeper than we wanted it, and I think that is a key attribute in passionate artist and creative that are seeking mastery in order to create influence through art
