We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Hughes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The start of my business was to assist me in raising enough money to buy a service dog. I love to paint as a way to express myself. People began to love my paintings and encouraged me to sell them. Each one has love and time put into it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I do minimalism, abstract, and cartoon art. I got started because i wanted a way to feel good and decorate my apartment without spending tons. I developed a love for it and became passionate about it. Learning by myself was not easy especially with my disability. However i pushed through and my art is constantly improving. My brand is about feel good vibes. The proceeds currently go to more art supplies, college, and a gofundme for my future service dog. I also once a year donate to charity for those who also struggle. Its a small but beautiful brand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Skateland is a go to spot for me and my family. Affordable and fun for everyone.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents are the biggest supporters i have! They’ve assisted me in so many ways. There’s nothing like it in the world.
