We had the good fortune of connecting with Shemese Vines and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shemese, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from a small town in SC called Cross hill. I was born and raised in a two parent household with two brothers. In my early pre-teen years my father passed away, leaving my mother to raise us. My mother being a single parent working hard and attempting to go to school for nursing while raising 3 children is what I think back on daily. She always made sure we never went without and always had the best. She is still here today pushing me every step of the way to be the best version of myself.
What should our readers know about your business?
I had the idea to start my fashion boutique during covid. I’m also a Nurse so I never had the opportunity to just sit around and dwell on it and come up with a game plan for it. Covid was a rough time for anyone in the medical field, so I kind of pushed it to the back of my mind. I actually carried out my plan and opened my business in late 2020 with the encouragement of my husband and mom. The Bougie Dollhouse is known throughout the upstate area for fast shipping, great communication, and long lasting products. We have great customers and even better reviews. We have proudly shipped to more than 40 states worldwide. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the dedication and loyalty from our customers. This has been the toughest journey of my life. We just reopened in May 2024 after being closed nearly 2 years, due to me furthering my education. My brand means the world to me and I will continue to build it up. I’m thankful for the people that support us continuously.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would have lunch at Cava and Tupelo Honey.
We would have dinner at Larkins and Rick Erwins.
We would visit gather greenville for some drinks or wine tasting at City Winery.
We would do a paint and sip night or have a bbq at my house.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Thomas Vines and mother Karen Workman both deserve all the flowers in the world. So besides them getting a shout out I also have to shout out my entire circle for being there when needed: Bailee, Bella,
Lia’Tia, Sean, Neal, Skyler, Jermele, Aquino, Jasmine, Pokey, Jamarcus, Dee, and Henry. Thanks for always supporting me and helping me cross every finish line, I truly love you all.
