We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawn Dillard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shawn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Dillard Painting Service because I saw a need with all of the new homes being built as well as with the amount of people moving to the Upstate.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I mostly focus on interior/exterior painting, but I do fence and deck staining as well. I painted homes in the summer during college and I even have a degree in art. I use my high attention to detail to help separate myself from others. I decided to put those skills to use and treat every new job as my own individual art project. I currently work on the weekends and in the evenings during the week. But I would eventually like to make this a full time thing in the future.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start off by taking them hiking/ site seeing at Ceasers head or Table Rock. After we would grab drinks at local brewery. Fire forge and Southernside are two of my favorite spots. For food there are many great options. My favorite would probably be Soby’s or Society.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to give a shoutout to Mark Van Natta. I have been advertising with him over a year now and he has helped bring me new customers and even multiple opportunities through word of mouth. He has really helped me get my business going in Greenville.
