We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Dubose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
It found me!! I was in healthcare for 17 years and decided I needed an outlet for the things I witnessed. I decided to volunteer on my days off at a local urban farm (reedy River farms). There I met my future husband. We started a new farm at our home and started dabbling in flowers. We never looked back!! It is my salve. It has plucked me from healthcare and landed me in a field.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started the flower farm with no outlet to sell my blooms. I just started. When Covid hit~ I was left staring at a field of blooms. It then dawned on me to invite people to have a safe space to be outside and pick flowers in a world of scary news and germs.

That is what catapulted my Upick flower series and helped me build a beautiful community of supporters and future customers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Soooo fun! I love a staycation.

Would definitely start by going to the Saturday farmers market in downtown GV. Swing by my favorite bookstore~ MJudson for coffee/wine/books. Ride bikes on the swamp Rabbit Trail to Travelers Rest and hit the Community Tap at the commons.

Nice dinner at Jianna and hit a show at Centre Stage theater.

Love the Village toooo. Village grind and shop local and to end with a treat at LaRue Fine chocolates!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Reedy River Farms!! My husband is the one who taught me everything in farming and then gave me the confidence to start my own flower farm
