We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Tick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When I left my nonprofit job after a decade to start my own dating coaching company, I was definitely nervous about taking this huge leap. There is something thrilling and also very nerve-racking about starting a new business from scratch and building it up on your own. I was lucky to have a great support network around me as I grew Modern Meet. I think not having a safety net to fall back on helped catapult my business and give me the focus and drive to succeed.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My background is that I am a licensed couples therapist, and I worked in the nonprofit sector for 10 years before leaving to pursue my own dating coaching business. The most challenging part of launching your own business is managing your roles. For the first eight months, I was my own marketer, advertiser, publicist, and brand developer, all while focusing on providing excellent customer care and results. After a year, I began delegating parts of the business to others so that I could focus on my true love of coaching and working with my clients.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Dinner: Chez Nous, Chubby Fish, Indaco
Coffee: Huriyali, Kudu, The Daily
Activities: Walking the Battery, visiting the South Carolina Aquarium, taking a boat tour to Fort Sumter
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am so lucky to have the support of my friends, family, and community. They continue to cheer me on an inspire me to grow every day.
