We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryann Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryann, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
All my life I’ve been the type of person to always play it safe, constantly scared of taking a risk for things to not play out in my favor. My outlook was ‘if you never take the chance, there’s not much to lose’. That was until I was faced with a once in a lifetime opportunity that I felt I couldn’t pass up. I was presented with the opportunity to participate in a reality TV love experiment with my partner of 7 years with this experience being a good distance away from everything I’ve ever know for a period of time. The show is called the Ultimatum on Netflix and the concept of the show is to “get marry or move on”. You choose another partner on the show to spend 3 weeks with and then another 3 weeks switched back to your original partner. I chose to take my high school sweet heart/partner of 7 years on this show not knowing how the outcome would turn out. I’ve always been deeply in love with my now husband (James) so going into it I did have faith in our relationship, but it is reality TV, you never know what they can throw at you. While it was probably the most difficult 6-weeks of my life and our relationship, we came out together in the end. Together we’ve been through so many trials and tribulations throughout our relationship, but somehow we always come out on top. Without me taking that risk, I would be no where close to where I am today. Since making that decision I’ve noticed I’ve been open to taking risks more often. It’s opened my world to new possibilities that I would’ve never dreamed of otherwise and for that I am thankful that I’ve taken those risks to try new things and trust my instincts.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work as a radiologic technologist in an Orthopedic office. Working in x-ray, I truly love my job and being able to help people everyday. Although the school was tough, I’m so glad I pushed myself to make it through. Being able to have a patient, kind and gentle heart when someone is going through a hard time is one of my favorite things. I love my patients and being able to take care of them in times of need. While this is my full-time job during the week, ever since participating on the Netflix experience I’ve now gotten the new opportunity to make a somewhat side job as being an influencer on social media. While this is a whole new world to me, it has opened so many doors. I have always had a passion for creating cute and trendy content, so I enjoy being able to do that in my free time. I love having a platform to share things with my followers whether that be lifestyle advise or beauty favorites. There are so many creative possibilities that make me excited to share with anyone who might be interested.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A perfect little trip to me would be visiting Folly beach in Charleston, spending our days relaxing, soaking up some sun to finish out the day with some good food and maybe a cocktail, winery or ice cream shop! I would definitely visit downtown Charleston, they have so many great options to choose from.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout God and my sweet Husband (James). My husband and I have been together since we were 16 years old, I feel like you can either grow together or grow apart after so much time, but we have continued to only grow stronger throughout our entire relationship. James is my best friend. Without his support, I wouldn’t be in the position I am today! Having someone who always supports, encourages, and loves you is something forever special. As much as James has been there for me, I don’t believe either of us would be where we are today if it wasn’t for our gracious and loving God. I thank God everyday for his many blessings including his unconditional love and forgiveness. I try not to take all these amazing gifts for granted.
