We had the good fortune of connecting with Paulette Criscione and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paulette, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My vision is to grow Cancer of Many Colors into a statewide support system for cancer patients in South Carolina, providing assistance with basic living expenses during treatment to offer some relief. Treatment is often grueling, making it difficult for patients to work while fighting to survive and support their families. My goal is to establish CMC in all counties across South Carolina. By the end of my career, I aim for CMC to be a sustainable and impactful organization, continuing to make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey in business has been rooted in the human resources field, where I’ve had the privilege of listening to and supporting individuals through their everyday crises. The gravity of making decisions that impact someone’s life and family has shaped my perspective and resilience. This experience became profoundly personal when I faced my own crisis, being diagnosed with breast and lung cancer and enduring the loss of my father and brothers to the disease. These heartbreaking challenges taught me the invaluable lesson of perseverance and the importance of offering unwavering support to those in need. Driven by faith and guided by God’s whisper, I founded Cancer of Many Colors to assist cancer patients with their basic living expenses during treatment. I am passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of others, and my story is a testament to the power of empathy resilience, and community.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friends were to visit for a week, the first thing I would do is ask them what they enjoy for fun. Understanding that age and life stage play a big role in interests, I would plan a mix of activities to make their stay memorable. I’d start by entertaining them in my Italian getaway backyard, cooking some of my favorite dishes while we share stories and enjoy each other’s company. We’d explore the charming Town of Lexington, dining at local restaurants and visiting unique retail businesses. If there’s an event at the Amphitheater, we’d definitely check that out. A special evening would be planned for Columbia, where we’d enjoy a delightful dinner followed by a play at the Koger Center of the Arts. I know my friends love to shop, savor delicious meals, enjoy a glass of wine, and reminisce about our lives and the wonderful bond we share.
Week-Long Itinerary

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am thrilled to announce the remarkable success of Cancer of Many Colors (CMC)! This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support, mentorship, love, and encouragement of incredible friends, dedicated board members, generous donors, and the grace of God. Each of them has played an integral role in CMC’s journey, and I am deeply grateful for their contributions and belief in CMC’s mission. Thank you for being the backbone of this organization and helping it to make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of others.
