We had the good fortune of connecting with Pascale Sexton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pascale, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Creating art makes me happy, whether it is painting or playing with clay. There is a complete freedom artists feel when they create, it is like listening to our inner voice and finding ourselves. When we can even make a living out of what we create this is the most wonderful blessing that tells us we are on the right track!
What should our readers know about your business?
As an artist I have learn to do my own art and not do so for selling purposes. It was a little difficult at first and a lot of work especially keeping up for juried shows, art festivals and just getting « out there » at the same time as being a mother of 4. Is is mostly other artists that pushed me and motivate me, being part of a group helped a lot! Later on i opened my own little art studio for children and adults in a place I just moved to, and I am very proud of it because it took some funds and risk at first, but with having a great support from the community my little studio has been running great!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I would take them to my house to show them all the local art from friends I have accumulated during the years, then to my studio to throw a pot on the pottery wheel, then I would take them to the magnificent Angel oak tree and maybe we would pack a picnic and eat it on the beach at Kiawah, and then lay down in the sun until it goes down. A good Guiness and live music at the local Irish pub might end the day!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The South Carolina Artist group is the one that started my creative art journey. By joining the group 6 years ago I learned how to write my statement, make my website, approach galleries but most importantly I met many other artists that became my best friends!
