We had the good fortune of connecting with Nico Romo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nico, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To create a community space where people will feel like they are home, no matter what the concept is. The base of the concept was the community and the location.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the perfect example of the American dream. I came to this country with next to nothing and worked hard to get where I am today. I know, I didn’t get where I am on my own and had so many important individuals that supported me and influenced me and I hope to be able to do the same for the younger generation. It is a difficult business to be in and passion is the most important thing. My main goal was to create a restaurant, and now restaurants where guests can feel comfortable and welcomed. I believe in that goal, I have succeeded. I am so grateful for my amazing team as well as the amazing community that supports us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had friends visiting the Charleston area for the evening, I would take them to Jack Rabbit Filly. It is located in Park Circle (North Charleston) and has a super fun vibe and menu. It is just a great spot to take friends for a night of delicious food and unique cocktails! They also just opened up a new BBQ spot, called King BBQ that I need to try! If you like Asian cuisine with a twist run by awesome people, look no further than Jack Rabbit Filly!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out, my wife Harmony for always being there for me and keeping me sane. My wonderful managers for leading with their example and being an integral part of maintaining a positive and family-centric atmosphere, and my incredibly supportive regulars for always showing up for us! I am lucky to have the most amazing staff and customers around!
