We had the good fortune of connecting with Nick Poppa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It really started with my own healing process, searching for the root cause of it all. I dealt with chronic back pain, other injuries, IBS as well as mental health issues for a long time. Every practitioner I saw for each of the former only seemed to deal with the symptom rather than the root cause.

Once I found a way to address my dysfunctions and created flow within my own life, I realized it was time to pay it forward. From that, FLOW Rewired was born. A system to help each individual take control of their own unique health needs and create flow within their own life.

What should our readers know about your business?
FLOW Rewired’s approach is unique and quite different from other health professionals. A preventative approach not only addressing the body but taking a comprehensive and in-depth approach to the nutrition, lifestyle, and mindset of each individual.

Training is tailored to the unique goals and capacity of everyone’s needs, whether improving sport/daily performance or overcome chronic pain, bridging the gap between rehabilitation and fitness. I teach and empower individuals to fine-tune their biomechanics and create their own mobility, stability, dexterity, and strength.

Nutrition and lifestyle guidance provides comprehensive support to bridge the gap to a healthier life. Whether eliminating gut issues, fatigue or increasing all around vitality. Here is where you cultivate your true inner strength.

Lastly, mindset provides the clairvoyance to find purpose as well as see the magic and positivity in life to cultivate long lasting change. The most important keys are dedication, not just from me but you, patience because all good things in life take time, and having fun because life is too short not to! This is where that inner strength is solidified.

Biggest lesson? Seeking discomfort. They say true growth lies outside of your comfort zone and it sure does. This has been the greatest lesson in life I could’ve been gifted thus far. Building FLOW Rewired hasn’t been the easiest, starting officially when I moved to a new state, creating new connections as well as managing my own life challenges but I persevered. This provided me the true understanding of how much this work means to me and that if I really want something, I’m willing to do what it takes.

Seeking discomfort has been translated into my coaching process. If you really want to change and grow, stepping out of our comfort zone is where to start. Best part is, if you are dedicated and patient, it pays off! On top of that, enjoying the process along the way because the true joy happens during the journey, not at the destination.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Charleston there is plenty to do. First of all though, I love to eat out! We’d have to go to Herd Provisions in downtown Charleston. It’s right up my alley regarding food sourcing, they get their produce and beef from their own farm. Beef is grass-fed, fries are fried in beef tallow and the icing on the cake? Absolutely delicious. There is also Huriyali. Great cafe to enjoy coffee and have a lighter breakfast or lunch with beautiful ambiance as well as super friendly and engaging staff. The James Island location is my go to!

Nature and history comes next, from the visiting the gorgeous Angel Oak Tree to spending some time on in the sun and in the water at Folly Beach to visiting any of the historical parks here in Charleston like Charles Town Landing to name one.

As far as any activities, Charleston Pour House to see a show. Funky and fun vibe all around and they always got great bands playing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The CHEK Institute and Paul Chek. Without his teachings and guidance I wouldn’t have been able to address the root cause of my own health challenges as well as others. I have yet to come across any other system that goes as deep as well as take an approach as integrated as the CHEK system.

That and David Drake of Drake Fitness. David provided me a platform and a facility to truly express my professional approach and needs when I first moved to Charleston. All the while he provided me guidance on how to get started in the low country.
