We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Knox Rosenzweig and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalie, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
When it comes to planning weddings, I think many clients and family members get stuck on having to do the traditionally wedding “things”: garter toss, bouquet toss, wearing white, not seeing each other all day before the ceremony, etc etc. These traditions are outdated, and we really enjoy embracing the personalities of our clients and creating an event that is super unique to their style and beliefs. My husband and I had breakfast together the day of our wedding and it was one of the best memories I had from the entire day. I think letting go of the idea of what you are supposed to do and doing want you want to do will not only make the day more enjoyable for you, but it will also sweeten the memories you make. There is really something special about walking into a wedding and knowing right away it exudes the couple so perfectly!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started in the event planning world working for country clubs in high school and college and was able to start dabbling in events. I quickly realized I had a growing interest in it. From there, I interned in college with an event planning company and worked my way up to an Assistant Event Planner in just a year. When I graduated college, I already had many years of experience under my belt and was fortunate enough to land my job with Boone Hall immediately. I started just 3 days after graduation, and being that Boone Hall was a much bigger job and operation than what I had been used to, it was definitely a “fake it till you make it” mindset. I basically dove head first into being over the operations of one of the most desirable venues in the US to get married. The most invaluable tool in event planning is experience. Even after 11 years, I still learn something new every event we do. Just when you think you have seen it all, something else comes along to humble you. However, that experience is what gives you confidence to navigate new situations like throwing weddings in 1000 year floods and tropical storms. Client’s need that calming and confidant nature, so they don’t have to do the worrying. That is why investing in good vendors for your wedding or event is a decision you will never regret making.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Weddings are huge operations and are no way done with just one person. It takes a village, and we would be nothing without our vendor community and incredible partners that are with us through thick and thin!
