We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Bodie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has led me to a fast track of success of selling $16M in my first 16 months.. I strongly disagree with doing everything conventionally. I once heard Richard Branson say his philosophy was “ screw it, let’s do it” Take risks and stand out from the crowd. As an entrepreneur I wasn’t afraid of doing things differently and I thought there was a better way to do Real Estate. If I was bored and not WOWED from an outsiders prospective, then I had to differentiate my approach. I may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I was willing to take the risk to cast the net to the avatar/ audience I was after. The best ideas I believe come out of frustrations, so …
I dove head first in the industry.. I wanted to be an individual and be a brand, not the brand of my brokerage. I have tried to do things a bit differently. I hired a branding agency from the start. I have always said, If you build it they will come! Love me some Kevin Costner hahah. I hired two ladies who were from LA and NY who helped brands launch very successfully. They were consumers, and had an outside prospective of what sellers and buyers wanted to see. It wasn’t the same ole boring headshot standing in front of a house or putting out an open house sign hoping and praying people come by. Between my personality and proragative to stand out, my brand company, mixed professionalism, a fun personality, and outside the box ideas to capture my audience. I found that the more content that was outside the box, the more I engaged my audience, even people who weren’t looking for homes like to watch what I was doing. They would share my content to their friends and say “ Look at this!” I had to make sure the real estate journey was a WOW experience from START to SOLD..

What should our readers know about your business?
I have lived in Charleston for 27 years and went to the college of Charleston and received my Masters in Business from Charleston Southern University while working full time thank of America. When I was 23 years old, I really did not think outside the box. I thought more conventionally and thought I needed to get a corporate job and climb the ladder. I started out at Bank of America and climbed the ladder until I was at wealth manager. I really felt like that career showed me how to build wealth.Through helping high net worth clients of 5 millions and more, I would look over my clients wealth portfolio and much of their portfolio contained real estate. That is what left a lasting impression on where I needed to build my wealth. 23 years old to 30 years old I was too scared to go out of my own and get out of corporate America. Often times I look at myself at 43 and kick myself for not getting into real estate sooner, but I always go back to God had his timing and I would’ve not had the help form The Narrative that helped explode my success! When I had children, I really wanted to work from home and that’s when I hung up my hat as a wealth management advisor and started to share different brands on social media and YouTube. I quickly and consistently ranked in the top 1% of producers year after year. My background in finance, sales and marketing gave me the unique skill set when I finally took the leap into Real Estate in January 2023. I love people and connecting with them. It’s really my JAM! I have said before Real Estate gives me the perfect opportunity to use my skill set and wealth management past experience and social media marketing to help clients find and sell their dream homes .
My approach through clarity, confidence, and empowerment are the key drivers to attract your dream client. I really do feel like the cornerstone of my strategy has been brand activations and hosting events. Beyond my branded events, I think cofounding the Women of Influence CHS group to empower other female on entrepreneurs has been very beneficial. When women with powerful dreams, come together, magic happens. I really credit my success with my faith and supportive family and my brand team at the narrative for helping me find balance and stay grounded.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were to show my bestfriend around town, I would pick her up from the airport and we would have lunch at Shem Creek. I feel so refreshed and relaxed when I overlock the fishing boats and creek! One of my go to restaurants is Sunsets, as it overlooks the beautiful creek as kayakers and boats pass by. I just love seeing the dolphin fins pop up here and there and seeing all of the people enjoying themselves in the beautiful sun. After our lunch, we would head downtown to King Street. I feel like we have some really unique boutiques and my best friend loves walking down, looking at all the beautiful architecture and palm trees and different storefront. So we’d first start out at King Street and then we would go. have a cocktail and some appetizers at the Dewberry Inn up on the eighth floor at the citrus bar. To me, that’s the most beautiful view of the city. You’ll see the stunning church rooftops, as well as the Ravenel bridge, the river that flank the gorgeous sunset.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I really believe I would be no where as far as long as I have if I had not had the help of my branding company, The Narrative Branding Agency.,.
It was divine intervention from God, I really do believe.. I adore connecting people. It’s really in my DNA. Two years back I initially started my nonprofit called Women of Influence Charleston. It started out as a small idea where I wanted to gather other women business owners to come together and share their businesses and collaborate and spread the word of one another’s businesses. It started out in my backyard with 10 ladies and then it manifested itself into over 1100 business women following our nonprofit. I met a woman at the very first meeting in my backyard that forever changed my life. Her name is Lauren Guadio Parker., she had just moved here from working a job for many years in New York City as a visual brand merchandise executive. She was looking to represent a female entrepreneur and help them build their brand. That’s when God blessed me, Introducing me to Lauren forever changed my life. She had such a great eye and mind for brand strategy and aligned perfectly with my vision of being outside the box. She would challenge me to do things differently and I really do feel like that was what made my brand accelerate. The second act of a divine intervention by God was putting Megan Edwards in my life at that same exact meeting. She moved to Charleston, South Carolina from Los Angeles and helped many brands launch into Sephora. She had a unique eye for graphic identity and video content. The three of us together started The Narrative Branding Agency. I began as their beta test. What I love about working with them is they have two different perspectives, but come together to make one unique brand. Together, the three of us worked side-by-side to create, my brand. I wanted to be an innovative, outside the box, fun, approachable, all about family and faith brand. I truly believe with God putting them in my life that it has led to my success of selling $16 million.
