We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan DeVault and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I fell in love with Charleston, South Carolina the first time I visited here back in the 90’s. And just like all visitors to our beautiful city, I knew I had to make it my home. The passion I have for the city and surrounding areas only grows more with the population. I created MyPleasantCity.com to share my love for the city and all there is to do here. I wanted to create a user-friendly experience for locals and visitors to find their next great memory. I focused the site on where to eat, where to drink and “kidvenient” things to do from a locals point of view. I am an adventurous eater and love our local craft beer scene. I’m also a mother of two and love to explore the city with my kids. MyPleasantCity.com has your Ultimate Lists of BBQ places, Golf Courses, Breweries, to Kid Birthday Party Places and more. It’s ever changing and updating. Create your next memory here with me in My Pleasant City!!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a local, I get asked the same questions over and over by visitors: What places are kid-friendly? What breweries are around? What does the city offer visitors? What events are going on in town when my family visits? What’s new in the area?
And many, many more.
Luckily, I’m an adventurous eater, an explorer at heart, and I absolutely love craft beer, so I’m always discovering fun parent-pleasant activities to do with my kids. You might say I’m on a quest to explore every corner of Mount Pleasant and learn what else My Pleasant City has to offer in the way of memories, fun and sun!
Whether you are a local or a visitor, join me on my journey to discover new places and the latest happenings around Mount Pleasant.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to Shoutout my amazing Husband, Stuart DeVault. He is the love of my life. An amazing husband, father, friend, son and real estate agent. He is a College of Charleston graduate and head of The DeVault Team at Carolina One Real Estate. His knowledge of this city keeps us up to date with the changes in this growing city.
