We had the good fortune of connecting with Meg Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meg, what principle do you value most?
Our family has 4 core values posted up on our refrigerator: integrity, respect, responsibility and citizenship. While we initially compiled this list with our kids in mind, I find myself regularly looking at any given situation, personal or professional, through the lens of our core vales.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in creating and enhancing dimensional warm tones for a wide range of hair textures, so that your hairstyle can fit your lifestyle. My goal is to make a positive impact on the world by ensuring that every person in my chair leaves feeling confident, refreshed, and empowered.
The passion I have for my craft is hard to hide & absolutely overflows into my guest experience. Everyone in my chair is an individual and is treated as such. From products suggested, to color used, to placement execution; I tailor the appointment to match my guest’s specific needs. My guests love that I nerd out explaining the how, what and why of their color and cut. I also share product knowledge & styling tips in addition to the rich, multidimensional colors and confidence they leave with.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a fun question!
There are a couple must-do’s when we have our out of state friends and family visiting. Azalea Coffee Bar and Queer Haven Books are the first two places that come to mind. How could you possibly beat a trip to a beautifully designed coffee shop for a coffee flight followed by thumbing though rows and rows of books and nicknacks in a cozy little bookshop!?
Of course, a visit to Soda City to support all of the talented artist and small businesses would be a priority too.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am most proud of and thankful for the knowledge I have gained from The Dress Code Project, All Hair Academy and The Beauty Collective. These masterminds and I share a core belief:
Our industry must evolve to be more diverse, radically inclusive and completely affirming.
I recently joined a networking group, Soda City Pride Business Network, and it has been a great resource for me and allowed me to help other entrepreneurs. The friendships and support have been the cherry on top.
