We had the good fortune of connecting with Maddie LaMarre and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maddie, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Wedding hair and makeup is a highly specialized niche within the beauty industry! Not all stylists/makeup artists have the taken the time to hone in on the knowledge and skill required to create bridal hair and makeup looks. The artistry behind creating looks that last through laughter, sweat, and happy tears takes a lot of time and practice to master.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I specialize in soft romantic hair and makeup looks for the effortless bride. I pride myself on using my clients feature’s to accentuate their own unique beauty. My team goes above and beyond for my brides. We are hair and makeup artists but we’re also our brides biggest cheerleaders and offer support on the wedding day in any way we can. It has taken some time and a lot of hard work to get here! It hasn’t always been easy, moving my business from the Chicago suburbs to the South Carolina coast was intimidating but ultimately the greatest decision I have ever made. Things have only gone up for me since creating a name for myself on the coast, and the greatest lesson I have learned is to believe in myself and in my artistry. I have just finished my first year in the Myrtle Beach area and I am so excited to see what else is in store for me!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a person who grew up landlocked in the Midwest, I think the best spot is the beach! If anyone is visiting, the beach is the first place we’re going. I absolutely love The Conch Cafe, being able to sit out on beach while having some drinks and appetizers is one of my favorite pass times. I love to go to souvenir shops, so we’ll make a stop at broadway at the beach or go to the Myrtle Beach boardwalk. I also am a huge fan of live music, so we’ll have to go out to the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk for some great food and great bands!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe a lot of my success to my former bridal team owners and fellow stylists for allowing me to learn from them and taking the time to support my craft. Former team owners took the time to continue my education and confidence in the bridal industry and for that I am eternally grateful! I have also had the pleasure of sharing the bridal space with some amazing artists that have been kind enough to support me in this journey, and offer their expertise and advise.
