We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Busman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my brand and personal success is being present and making valuable connections. As an introvert, I initially struggled to make myself known in a crowded room or even get a word in, but I have learned to speak up as that is the only way to build relationships. By attending network events or posting educational content on social media, I have been able to connect with so many people who are willing to help support my brand while I support theirs as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I focus on storytelling for couples that want to showcase their authentic selves. My photographs invoke feelings of warmth and romance, and that is so you can feel transported back to that special moment whenever you look at that photograph.

Being able to describe my work and what I want to portray has definitely taken time to get to where I am today. I have a marketing background and am always working behind the scenes to make sure my brand and my art align so that they can reach my ideal clients and allow them to feel like themselves in front of my camera and in the photographs they receive.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d hang out at Folly Beach, grabbing some tacos and the Cuban sandwich from Chico Feo, drinks from Bert’s, and sit on the beach for a while.

Later in the day, we’d head downtown and take a walk through the beautiful streets of Charleston, stopping to window shop and of course, for a piece of peanut butter chocolate cake at Carmella’s.

Throughout the week, I’d show off my favorite parks: Hampton Park, White Point Gardens, and Sunrise Park.
