We had the good fortune of connecting with Latisha Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latisha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was to build generational wealth for my family while simultaneously making a positive impact on our community and creating job opportunities for others.

Launching my business isn’t just about chasing profits; it’s about creating a legacy of prosperity and empowerment that extends far beyond myself. It’s about weaving together the threads of financial success, community enrichment, and job creation into the fabric of our entrepreneurial venture.

With every decision I make, I’m committed to upholding core values of integrity, sustainability, and social responsibility. I believe that by doing good in the world, I can also do well for myself and my loved ones.

What should our readers know about your business?
Here at Phoenix Tax Services we offer Notary services along with a comprehensive range of tax services designed to meet your needs, whether you’re an individual, a small business owner, or self-employed. From filing your personal taxes to managing your business finances, we’ve got the expertise and dedication to ensure your taxes are done right. What sets us apart from the rest? It’s simple: We prioritize building genuine relationships with each and every one of our clients while tailoring our services to meet their unique needs. What I’m most proud of isn’t just crunching numbers or filing forms; it’s the opportunity to genuinely help my clients while empowering them through education on taxes.

As I reflect on how I got to where I am today, I’m reminded of the powerful combination that has propelled me forward: faith and hard work. The road to success isn’t always smooth or straightforward. There were countless moments when challenges seemed insurmountable, and doubts crept in. There were days when throwing in the towel felt like the easiest option. But through it all, I held onto two steadfast principles: faith and hard work. Faith gave me the courage to believe in myself and my dreams, even when the odds seemed stacked against me. It reminded me that with determination and perseverance, anything is possible. And hard work? Well, that’s the glue that holds it all together. It’s the relentless pursuit of excellence, the refusal to settle for anything less than my best. It’s the willingness to roll up my sleeves and do the work, even when it’s tough.

Was it easy? Absolutely not. But here’s the thing – anything in life worth having is worth working for. Every setback, every obstacle, every moment of doubt only made the victories sweeter. They taught me resilience, they fueled my determination, and they shaped me into the person I am today.

So, to anyone out there who’s facing their own challenges or chasing their own dreams, I want you to know this: Keep the faith. Keep putting in the work. And never, ever give up. Your journey may not be easy, but trust me when I say this – it will be worth it.

As I continue on my entrepreneurial journey, I’ve come to realize that some of the most valuable lessons aren’t found in textbooks or boardrooms – they’re learned through experience and reflection. Today, I want to share two key insights that have profoundly shaped my approach to business.
Lesson #1: Cultivate and Maintain Relationships
Lesson #2: Don’t Take Anything Personal
So, as I continue to navigate the ever-changing landscape of entrepreneurship, I carry these lessons with me as guiding principles

I am deeply passionate about what I do. Whether it’s helping clients navigate their taxes, educating others on financial matters, or simply sharing knowledge, I pour my heart and soul into every aspect of my work. It’s not just a job for me – it’s a calling, a mission to make a positive impact in the lives of those around me.

I find immense joy in helping and educating others. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about empowering people with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed. Whether it’s a client learning how to maximize their deductions or a friend discovering a new skill, I believe in the power of education to transform lives. And let me tell you, there’s nothing I love more than seeing others grow and thrive.

But here’s the thing – I don’t just want to see individual success. I want us all to win. I believe that we rise by lifting others, and that together, we can achieve incredible things. That’s why, here at Phoenix Tax Services, we’re more than just a business – we’re a community. A community committed to integrity, professionalism, and innovation. A community dedicated to supporting each other on our journey to success.

So, whether you’re a client, a friend, or simply someone passing by, know that you are welcome here. Know that you are valued, respected, and supported. And know that together, we can accomplish anything we set our minds to. Let’s make this world a better place, one step at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When it comes to dinner, my absolute favorite spot has to be Halls Chophouse. From the mouthwatering steaks to the elegant ambiance, every visit is a culinary delight. It’s the perfect place to indulge in a special evening out with friends or loved ones.

But let’s talk brunch – because who doesn’t love a leisurely weekend brunch? When the craving strikes, you’ll often find me at Sobys, Juniper, or Southern Culture. Each of these spots offers a unique twist on classic brunch favorites, from fluffy pancakes to savory egg dishes. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

And when I’m in the mood to wine down and unwind, there’s no better place to escape than City Scape Winery in Pelzer, SC. Nestled amidst rolling vineyards, this hidden gem offers the perfect setting to sip on a glass of wine and soak in the serene surroundings. It’s my go-to spot for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to recognize my brother, Demetrius Martin. Demetrius, you’ve always been there to push me to my fullest potential, encouraging me to reach for the stars even when I doubted myself. Your belief in me has been a constant source of strength and inspiration. Thank you for always having my back!

Next, I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to Joanna Sinbandit, the Tax Guru. Joanna, you’ve been more than just a mentor – you’ve been a guiding light on my journey in the tax business. Your wisdom, expertise, and words of encouragement have helped me navigate challenges and grow professionally. Whenever self-doubt crept in, you were there to remind me: “YOU GOT THIS.” Thank you for believing in me and sharing your knowledge so generously!

I also want to express my appreciation to my sister, Paula Martin. Paula, your dedication and support for Phoenix Tax Services have been nothing short of extraordinary. From showing up to last-minute events with me to pounding the pavement and networking in the community, you’ve been my right-hand woman every step of the way. There’s nothing I can’t ask of you, and for that, I am truly grateful. Together, we make a formidable team!

Last but certainly not least, I want to give a special shoutout to my children. You are my biggest cheerleaders, always cheering me on with love and support. Your belief in me fuels my determination to succeed, and I am endlessly grateful for your unwavering encouragement. Thank you for being my greatest motivation and source of joy!
