We had the good fortune of connecting with KP Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KP, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had the desire to start a business not necessarily to work for myself but to have the opportunity to solve problems freely. Ultimately, every business I start in some way helps solves a problem and provides connection.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the owner and operator of KP Connects, also known as KPC & Company. KPC and Company is a leading strategy and event execution agency with a growing portfolio of clients. We design various avenues to success for your organization or personal brand with clear, achievable, and innovative strategies that move your business beyond bounds and create impactful outcomes. We strive to stand out by strategically working with influential brands and businesses to curate intentional impact. In addition, I’m the owner and operator of Great Escape Enterprises. With community in mind, I’ve arranged this business to offer a safe and welcoming space that provides an immersive experience. My goal is to have an escape room filled if brain teasers, allowing participants the entertaining space to sharpen ones communication, creativeness and team building skills. Rather you’re escaping from reality to play our immersive games for date night or celebrating a birthday party we’re here to unlock some fun and unlock some adventure.

Creating spaces that allows people to leave feeling impacted is my ultimate goal in each of my businesses. It’s not always easy to maintain multiple businesses but keeping my purpose and goal in mind strengths me to continue working.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When friends come to town we’re primarily going to eat lol! Day one we’re going to Boku for a plethora of small plates and drinks. Day two we’re going to stop by the world famous Kiki’s Chicken Waffles for their signature dishes . And day three depending if we’re eating light or hardy we’ll stop by Sky Bistro for salmon bites and fries or Pasta Fresca for their signature spinach chicken lasagna *chef’s kiss*! For entertainment throughout the week of course we’ll hit Great Escape Enterprises and the Final Door ( also owned and operated by a woman). Shop in Trenholm Plaza & with Carolina Clutches and Burnt Wax candles. Have a spa day with Wax Therapy, manicures at KX Studios and pedicures within the week at Essential Salons. After all that eating and pampering we’ll take a walk by the river or head over to Soda City .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My *success” isn’t anything I’ve obtained by myself. For me success isn’t a destination but a forever moving target. Over the years I recognize that God and my village should be credited for my success. God has continuously provided me with ideas and graciously always given provision to see things come to fruition. I also credit my aunt who exposed me to what it looks like to be a multifacit entrepreneur, active community member and present family member. My Pastors who both encourage and challenge me to be the best version of me. My parents and best friend for being the best listeners and business advisors .
