We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
What do you want your legacy to be? For me, it’s all about freedom. I often think about this question, and I always come back to the idea of freedom. I want to be remembered for breaking free from life’s daily struggles, for believing that anything is possible, and for living the life I deserve. And I want to help others find their own freedom too, to be themselves without holding back, and to chase their dreams without fear.

What do you want people to remember about you? When people look back on my life, I hope they don’t just see a regular teacher who taught in a school. Instead, I want them to see me as someone who taught important lessons about life. I want to be known for helping others grow, inspiring them to be their best, and standing up for what’s right. And as a follower of Christ, I hope people see His light shining through me, guiding me to serve others with humility and grace. I want my legacy to be all about learning, helping others, and being kind to everyone.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

What are you most proud of or excited about? I’m thrilled about the upcoming expansion plans for City Juicery. It’s been a journey to get here, but I’m proud of the progress we’ve made.

How did you get to where you are today business-wise? I believe I’ve reached this point through investing in business development courses, connecting with like-minded individuals and organizations, and staying on top of market trends and research of the industry to build the confidence and knowledge to grow the business.

Was it easy? Definitely not. It often meant a whole lot of missing calls and feeling disconnected from my social circles. As a single parent, I’ve had to make sacrifices that not only impact me but also my daughter. Walking this path can be lonely, but I’ve overcome challenges by tapping into available resources.

What lessons have you learned along the way? I’ve learned that not every day will be smooth sailing. But regardless of the day’s outcome, staying focused on your goals and persevering is crucial for success. Consistency is key and be prepared to pivot at any moment.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? I want the world to understand that it’s okay not to fit the mold. Our uniqueness is what makes us special, both as individuals and as brands.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
During my best friend’s week-long visit, I’d ensure they experienced the essence of our city, blending local favorites with unique spots that capture the heart of the area. We’d kick off our adventure with a spicy start, indulging in the legendary Prince’s Hot Chicken for lunch, a Nashville staple renowned for its fiery flavor. Supporting the community, we’d dedicate our time to exploring local black-owned businesses such as Inside the Nail Bar, Cashville ETC, PSV Store, Rolled4Ever, and so many more with the intentions to deeply immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of Nashville, TN.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am thankful for each and every one person that has played a role in my journey. 1stly God because without his will and plans over my life none of this would be possible, My City Juicery Team, My supportive family (particular my Auntie Jacqui who dedicates countless hours to support me and the development of The City Juicery), our amazing partnerships and community of supporters throughout the city of Nashville, My rockstar mentors Angela Mitchell Hill (Corner 2 Corner) and John Sharpe (Entrepreneur Center), my church family of Watson Grove that keeps me grounded and lastly my amazing daughter Kailee Green who is walking this joinery with me from late nights to early mornings.
