We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlin Tufts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaitlin, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Jane DO is based on the principal that every woman is capable of incredible things (physically, mentally, emotionally, financially etc) when given the proper support system. And that by DOing, she will build the strength and confidence to push further than she ever dreamed possible.
What started off as a fitness concept has evolved into an incredibly supportive community of women who are striving the become the best versions of themselves in all aspects of their lives, and cheering each other on in the process. Jane DO is a place that supports and uplifts women, through fitness, without ego, agenda, or judgement. It is a place where women come together to share, motivate, and empower themselves and each other.
Jane DO is about finding your inner badass and owning your power. We celebrate confidence, resilience, and self-love, creating a space where you can truly become the best version of yourself. The impact this has had on myself, the women in my life, the community, and beyond is astounding.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Jane DO, as a brand, has a really interesting story, and one that I’m happy to be a part of. The co-founders Jacey Lambros and Danielle DeAngelo are former Radio City Rockettes, which if you’ve ever been to New York City, know are an absolute force! After they stopped dancing with the Rockettes, they founded Jane DO.
When I first stumbled upon Jane DO, I was still dancing professionally myself so naturally, I gravitated to the rhythmically based methodology. I became a trainer for the brand and after many years together, I became a managing partner at the Jane DO Charleston location.
Owning and operating a business is a lot of hard work. It takes tremendous dedication, vision, patience, support… the list goes on. I’ve learned so many lessons a long the way (and continue to!)… I think learning how to pivot and improvise is an incredibly valuable skill when you own a business. That, and having a team that you can lean on and learn from is the invaluable in this venture.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Obviously we would start our day with a Jane DO class. Babas on Cannon for coffee and breakfast. If you are looking for a rooftop and it’s nice out then Dewberry hotel Citrus Club rooftop for views and drinks. Leon’s or Little Jack’s for dinner. Must get the burger at Little Jacks. Ending our night the only way we know how with live music and great vibes at Frontier Lounge!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This may sound a little cliché, but so much of what I do is about supporting and empowering women. And what I have learned both professionally and personally, is that the women in your life are the best allies you can have.
For example, the women I have worked with and for have been friends, mentors, and confidants. The co-founders of Jane DO, Jacey Lambros and Danielle DeAngelo, have provided countless hours of support. They have helped me grow from a trainer into an entrepreneur and business owner. The women in my family, my friends and the clients I see everyday continue to support and push me to be stronger and to take life’s challenges head on.
This shoutout is to every woman who stands up for and along side other women. The girl’s girls. Life would be impossible without ya’ll.
