We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Grumberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julie, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?

What really makes me happy is being able to share my art with all the people and cultures in the world through my social networks.
I love expressing my feelings on each canvas I paint, it’s like leaving a little piece of my soul in each painting.
I can’t imagine a world without painting. I think that the fact of being able to touch a brush and be able to create is the best feeling that every painter can feel.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
If you enter my social networks you will see that my art is varied from the most classic, characterized by the search for harmony, proportion and aesthetic perfection. You will also see that I paint Abstract, Urban and Pop Art being more spontaneous with the expression of my emotions, you will notice that I develop different work techniques , And my famous portraits that I draw live at events. I love taking portraits of people and pets. I think that’s what I enjoy the most.

I think what differentiates me from others is that you will find in my paintings from the most realistic to the most abstract as I mentioned before.
different artistic techniques and media. For example oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, charcoal, I think that as an artist I really like to experiment and explore.

I am very proud to have this natural talent and I am excited to be able to create and share my art with all the people who enjoy my same passion, which is art.

That’s a good question, how I got to where I am today.
In reality it hasn’t been easy, in 2014 I founded an art academy called Julie de art. It started in 2014 and I had to close it due to covid in 2020. As of 2021 I had to start again and resume my artistic career as a painter since during the last few years I decided to teach as an art teacher at my academy. I think that that time strengthened me a lot in the sense that I was able to know myself more in my art, I had more time to rediscover myself and discover all that art that is in me and be able to show the world what I really am.

I think that the challenges I have had along the way as an artist have been various in different ways, but one of the strongest that I have had to face is having resumed my career as an artist in 2021.
Starting in a new city without knowing anyone was difficult but thank God many doors have opened for me and I have met wonderful people who I have a great welcome and I have felt the support as an artist of this beautiful city of Charleston that today I can call Home.

One of the greatest lessons that I have learned throughout these years is that if you have a dream or you have a goal and even if the path is not easy, even if you feel that you are not moving forward and you no longer have the strength, never give up because I believe that Effort to a certain point in life always brings its reward.

With my paintings I give my viewers joy and hope. Each painting reflects a little piece of my soul, leaving a mark on the painting that transcends the colors and gives it its own shine.

In addition to painting, I also offer various services:
Muralist for residential and Commercial.
Custom Portrait.
Private Events for Party Paint.
Live Wedding Guest Illustration.
Live Wedding Painting.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Charleston is without a doubt one of the most picturesque and charming cities in America. The oldest city in South Carolina is full of history, pastel colored houses, sprawling mansions, cobble stone streets and lush gardens. It’s not hard to instantly fall in love with Charleston. As far as cities go, this one is very walkable and many beautiful places to see in Charleston, SC can be found just by strolling around. Here are some of the most picturesque spots in the city.

Possibly one of the most photographed and beautiful places in Charleston, SC is Rainbow Row: a cluster of pastel painted houses. There are 13 of them, and you can find them along East Bay Street near the waterfront.

Pineapple fountain
For centuries, the biggest symbol of that Southern hospitality has been a pineapple. Many pineapple accents can be spotted throughout the city, with the most recognizable being the Pineapple fountain in Charleston Waterfront Park.

Boone Hall Plantation
My favorite one is Boone Hall, located about a 30 minute drive from the downtown area. Built back in 1681 by John Boone, it is one of the oldest working plantations in America.
Right as you enter, you are welcomed by a beautiful avenue of the oaks, which is said to have been the inspiration for the entrance to the Twelve Oak plantation in the Gone with the Wind movie. Also, fans of The Notebook will sure recognize Boone Hall, as the Plantation appeared in several scenes in the movie.

Of course, the best way to immerse to downtown is Walking south down King Street, past bars, boutiques, and Southern-style restaurants, you’ll end up at two key points of interest: the city’s defensive seawall called The Battery and an enchanting stretch of Southern live oaks in White Point Garden.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I started painting when I was 8 years old and I always had the support of my parents from my childhood to my adolescence and I would really like to thank them because without their support I would not have this artistic career. They always trusted my talent and not only that, but they encouraged me to continue throughout my artistic process.

I would also like to thank all the people who have supported me by purchasing my art and who like my painting creations.
I really appreciate it. I would also like to thank the Charleston art community, I have always felt great support from them and the galleries, artists and brands I have worked with during this period.

Truly, without the support of all these wonderful people I would not be here. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
