We had the good fortune of connecting with Jules Weldon & Stacey Pierce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jules Weldon & Stacey Pierce, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
This is a fine line. As an entrepreneur, when you have put your heart and soul (and time and money) into something, giving up feels like the very last option, if an option at all. Similar to raising a child. For us, it all comes down to calling. We know in our heart of hearts that we have been called to this and walking away would be walking away from our calling and purpose in this world.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our company is called OME Gear and our desire with it is to help people experience and enjoy the outdoors easier. Our flagship product is The Wanderr. It is the very first 5 in 1 transforming product that easily converts from a cart to a higher chair, to a lower chair to a lounger with airless wheels that work great on any terrain, including the softest sand. Plus, it can turn into a hauler for kayaks, paddle boards, deer, or any big awkward things. Building this company has been one of the hardest things we have ever done, but it’s also brought some of the biggest celebrations of our lives. We have learned the hardest things often tell the best stories. We are committed to using our experiences – both hard and good – to help others entrepreneurs, specifically female, have an easier time in taking their products to market.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We LOVE everything about Charleston. After spending 2 years on the road in a wrapped OME Gear RV, our love for Charleston has only grown. One of our favorite nights out in Charleston is going to The Peacock for dinner, then catching a show at 34 West where you are sure to laugh your face off, then walk across the street to Doar Bros for a cocktail. The beaches all have their own different type of charm. A meandering walk through downtown Charleston on the cobble stone streets is also a fantastic way to spend a day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people to thank who have believed deeply in us and our vision. First, our families. The love, support, and encouragement they have offered has been unmatched. Second, our team. Talk about an A+ group of people – these individuals have stuck by us through the thick and the thin and we will be forever grateful. And third, our team of angel investors. This group has put their money behind their belief in us and been patient with us as we grow OME Gear. And last but not least, each other. We could not, and probably would not, do this without the love and support of each other.
