We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Skinner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
This is a question I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. As someone who has a tendency to pile a lot on my plate, I’m always assessing what to keep vs what to give up.

When deciding, I often reflect on a few key questions:

1. Impact on Health: “Is this endeavor negatively affecting my physical or emotional health?” If the answer is yes, I choose to let it go. Maintaining my health and wellness is my biggest priority.

2. Enjoyment of Success: “If this endeavor were as successful as I envision, would I still enjoy it?” If yes, I persevere. It’s tempting to quit when progress is slow, but instead of giving up, I adjust my actions to find what works. If the answer is no, I move on to something else because success is meaningless if I don’t enjoy the journey.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company, Day to Day Assist, specializes in transforming the way small business owners operate by implementing better systems and effective hiring strategies. We’ve successfully supported over 40 companies across 17 industries through our strategic consulting and done-for-you services. Our mission is to help businesses function like well-oiled machines, enabling them to grow and scale more efficiently.

The journey has been anything but easy. Over the past three and a half years, my business has undergone several transitions as I’ve grown professionally. Balancing my full-time career while pursuing a master’s degree taught me to embrace gradual growth.

Key lessons I’ve learned include taking things one day at a time, developing services that genuinely address my clients’ needs, and establishing repeatable processes that can be delegated to team members. These experiences have shaped my business and continue to drive our success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d take them to Greenville, SC, a vibrant town known for its arts, culture, and delicious food. We’d start by exploring Falls Park, a beautiful spot perfect for a walk. For dinner, we’d head to The 05, a local favorite, and finish the evening with a delicious slice of pie from Old Europe Coffee and Desserts, the best bakery in town.

Being spontaneous, we’d cruise around Greenville, deciding on the next adventure as we go! The week would be filled with fun and discovery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to highlight the book “Balance” by Touré Roberts. It emphasizes the importance of prioritizing what truly matters, such as health, family, and God. This book inspired me to establish better boundaries, confidently say “No,” and take regular time off to recharge and rejuvenate.
