We had the good fortune of connecting with Jean-Louis and Yvette Ledent and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jean-Louis and Yvette, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Starting your own business is always a risk but it is also so rewarding when you are working for yourself. We can work as hard as we want to and we don’t have to respond to anyone. Self-discipline is number one but again, when you go to work, you know you are working for you and your family and not for someone else. It feels very good when we have a great day of sales and this is what keep us going. Risks play a large role in our life/career and this is why we have to stay at our best and keep serving top quality products.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are approaching our ninth year in business here in Columbia SC. We are proudly serving one of Belgium specialties witch is the Belgian Waffle. We are the only one in Columbia and probably in South Carolina to serve authentic Liege Waffle from a Food Truck. We love to share our culinary heritage with our customers. Authenticity and quality are our priorities in our business. Starting our own business was not as easy as it looks like, we did overcome the challenges with a lot of self-discipline and by keeping the same quality ingredients and service every time we were out with our truck. Over the years, we built our reputation and a solid customer base. We would like to announce that our business is actually for sale, The only reason is that we are ready to retire after 40+ years in the food industry. We are offering training to the potential buyers (recipes/numbers/locations…) so they can keep going and start earning money their very first day in business. We want a smooth transition. Reach to us for more info.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Visit the Capitol: it is very interesting / Go get a coffee at Curiosity Coffee Bar / Go to First Thursday on Main ? Visit the zoo / Go to Soda City Farmers Market on Saturday morning / walk along the river / visit the many breweries we have here / visit the horseshoe at USC / Eat at The Belgian Waffle Truck! / Eat at different restaurants at the Vista / visit the E-children museum

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to thank Gery Ledent (our daughter), Hannah Lawson and Juliane Boyd for their help on the Food Truck, we couldn’t do it without you guys!
