We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Kohler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The value of love and loving others is extremely important to me. I am a Christian and the drive for all that I do comes from the example of my One and only Savior and to love others as He has loved me throughout my life. In this world of hate and chaos, people have lost their love for one another. This is something that animals have always shown to me in my life. No matter what I have done, the mistakes that I have made, or what I look like animals always show me unconditional love and forgiveness. It is so amazing to me how much just showing someone that you love and care for them can be so powerful and healing.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the founder and director of a non-profit, Blissful Dreams, that is an Animal Assisted ministry and. Our mission is to share the love and gospel of Jesus Christ through therapeutic horseback riding and animal related activities for children, juveniles, and adults struggling with psychological, emotional, physical, and relational challenges while using formerly abused, neglected, and abandoned horses and dogs. We are set apart from others by not just offering therapeutic horseback riding, but using it as a vessel to share the love of Jesus Christ. I am most proud to serve my Lord and Savior. It has not been an easy road to getting where I am today. It took me until my mid 20’s to realize that I could use my passion and gifts as my work. I learned through many mistakes of trying to please other people and trying to search for happiness through material things. I want the world to know that God uses broken people to do amazing things, and that He loves each and every one of us. He loves you!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmmm…I don’t get out much. I am a total country girl. I would just love to go hiking through the woods. Honestly, I would have to say, we would spend a lot of time with the animals. I feel like I should say the beach, Isle of Palms, but the beach has gotten so crowded over the years. Maybe we would go for a sunset or sunrise walk on the beach. I would probably take them to get seafood somewhere, maybe in McClellanville. As you can tell, I am not the best “party planner.” I would say that I would have to take them to my small group and to church with me on Sunday morning to Seacoast. “
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to say the pastor of the church attended for most of my life, Ron Dillon, has played a vital role in mentoring and encouraging me throughout my entire adult life.
