Meet Jake Almond | Wedding & Event DJ

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake Almond and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jake, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My father started Nutz4muzik DJ service as a way to bond with my brother and I growing up, while making a difference in the community. We hosted all sorts of charity events donating our time but also having a ton of fun doing it! After my father retired I really enjoyed the business so I took control of the company and keep Nutz4muzik Rockin n Rollin.

What should our readers know about your business?
Being DJ and entertainer is all fun and games until it’s not. There is a lot of pressure and a lot of things that can go wrong. As a wedding DJs are not only responsible for all of the music but also all the lighting and sound equipment, where as your typical club DJ just brings in a laptop and plugs into a house system at the venue. The Key to being a successful DJ is being prepped and organized. Doing research to ensure success, if one link in the chain is down, the whole system is down. Always have a back up!

I love being the person with the answers at a party. it’s the best feeling in the world to be reason the event was fun for everyone and successful overall.

People give DJs heck but we work hard to provide the best experience for our guests entertainment. I can’t leave an event happy unless I know everybody will be bragging about what a great event it was for at-least a few days!

I saw value in becoming an entertainer because I believe I can help make the world a more positive place with great music and a “never surrender” attitude.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Beaufort is a very small area but great for a visit if you are in the area. Very historic with an amazing river front park. One time I even set up some gear and played music across the park for fun. Q on the bay is a BBQ restaurant/bar with outdoor patio

Other really great spots within a two hour drive include the beach towns of Folly beach and Hilton head. Savannah Georgia is a fun city to visit in the area as well.

I travel a lot as a DJ, some of my favorite restaurants in large cities would be

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Alan Almond, has always been the best dad. I couldn’t have asked for a better boss, teacher, father. I’m very happy being a DJ and I love the places My career has taken me, for example I’ve played a wedding at the national aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland. I can thank my father for all that and so much more.

@djhikevin (Kevin Garrity) really took me under his wing and I owe him a thank you and everyone at @klockentertainment for helping me be the entertainer I am today.
