We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacquelyn Kimbrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacquelyn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was having something that was mine that I loved doing, something that I am proud to promote and something I could share with my two daughters. My thought process was thinking of starting a business that was something I love to do that doesn’t feel like a job.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Choosing to open a Woman’s clothing boutique is exciting but Apricot Lane is different from others. Some may think, ‘its just a woman’s clothing boutique’ but honestly I have learned that it is much more than that. We have a welcoming vibe which allows our customers to feel comfortable and confident when shopping and trying on clothes. This comfort allows our customers to share their personal stories from breast cancer survival, weight loss success, fertility, motherhood, girls trip plans and so much more. These stories lead to a connection and a positive experience for our Apricot Lane Shopper and they know they can always come to our store and find a friend and a perfect outfit for any event! We want to be the go to for the mom, teacher, real estate agent, work out fanatic, etc in the Fort mill, Tega Cay, Rock Hill and all surrounding areas!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would visit downtown Fort Mill to shop at crossings on main, have breakfast at tega cay deli, Illumination wine for wine/champagne tasting, boat ride out on lake wylie, lunch and local beer at Model A, nails done at nail palace, take a walk at riverwalk rock hill, work out at ISI tega cay and/or Pure Barre Fort Mill
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am the product of my own expectations yet I have multiple people to accredit for supporting and encouraging my vision and goals. I have always thought the best and safest route to follow was a strict career path in healthcare after obtaining my degree. After twenty three years of self guided training towards directorship in the healthcare field I met my max goal. So when my ambition led me to opening a woman’s clothing boutique in my hometown after working in healthcare for 23 years, I received the unconditional support from my life time mentor Anne Harris and Shelly Smith and of course my Husband Dillion and mom Dottie France.. No matter the turn of event with this new adventure they never waivered in their ultimate encouragement, belief and support of my dreams. They knew I could thrive in an environment with where I could see, feel, touch and share my dream with others in the community and in my family. I also give tremendous recognition to the healthcare industry for the experience and leadership I acquired which led me to the place I am proud to be in now.
