We had the good fortune of connecting with Miss Rizwana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miss Rizwana, what principle do you value most?
As an individual running a nonprofit, the value or principle that matters most to me is the organization’s mission and its commitment to making a positive impact on the world. Nonprofits exist to address pressing social, environmental, or humanitarian issues, and their primary purpose is to create meaningful change and contribute to the greater good.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The SOL Foundations is working globally to transform and empower lives of millions of individuals that are part of the underprivileged and underserved communities.

These communities are at large made of individuals that come from poverty and slums, women that come from abused homes, runaway youths, disability individuals, and orphans.

This segment of population is always overlooked and/or hidden from the public domain as they are usually “outcasted” and never given opportunity to get education, chance to learn various skills, and never given the chance to proved themselves.

We are working closely with them to provide education and empower them through local agroforesrty, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a city person, so I would definitely take my best friend to Chicago Loop and Navy Piers. I love the feel of vibrant air, diverse atmosphere, and most of all the liveliness, regardless the time of the day or season!

There are always some kind of events going on and you never feel isolated or alone, because everyone there is part of your family, regardless of who they are, their faith or their walks of life. At that moment, we are all united by the love of the city.

The various cuisines that are full of different flavors and tastes. You can always find whatever culture cuisine you want from Indian, to Chinese, to Mediterranean to Pizza to burgers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely many people played crucial roles in my success, some positively, while many negatively. Most crucial people is my family, my parents and my 3 brothers

Coming from a minority family and as a female, life is never ending challenges, but my parents always believed education is extremely important and they pushed all of us children into education, to get our degrees, and my siblings always had my back, regardless of my limitations and challenges.
