We had the good fortune of connecting with Hoodsie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hoodsie, why did you pursue a creative career?
It’s all that felt right. I don’t mind doing a 9-5 as long as it’s something I enjoy, but at the end of the day I absolutely love music and everything that comes along with it. Nothing feels better than finally completing that song you’ve been working on for months and months and actually getting to showcase it to the world, whether that be through streaming or preforming it live.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Most of what sets me apart from the crowd would be to me is my raw honesty and production style. I try to be as real as possible whenever making lyrics, the only exception is “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?” since that was more of a character for that project. But I try to be as honest with how I’m feeling track to track, hard for me not to be sometimes. My production style has always been near and dear to me because I started out originally only producing. As of late I’ve been trying to dive back into that original Trip-hop sound I started with cause of the niche I was able to fit into, how well the style fits me and how nicely that production scratches a sorta “itch” in my brain if you will. It definitely wasn’t easy all the time though. I went through a lot of ups and downs trying to differentiate myself after I quit making as much of my SoundCloud-era music. I felt like I was struggling to find my sound and nothing really fit me, but it’s just about finding what you love to record in the moment, so that’s what I try to go by. My lesson I learned along the way? Try to make music, or anything creative, for yourself first. And for the world, stay beautiful ily <3

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I grew up and lived most of my life in Upstate SC, I would definitely start out with a short trip to Downtown Greenville, go to Falls Park, take a walk through downtown and get Sticky fingers. For any nature people I would drive up to Cleveland, SC and go to Pretty Place, Bald Rock and take a quick drive to North Carolina and back. One of the coolest places in my opinion around here is definitely Sparetime. They got everything a person could dream for. For the year I lived in Colorado, I’d say St. Marys Glacier. During the winter it’s one of the coolest frozen over lakes I’ve personally seen.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely say my mom first and foremost. Literally every step of the way she supported me no matter whether I was thriving or just trying to get out there, she kept telling me I could do it and to keep going. My brother, Jacob as well. Through all the years he’s listened to my music, given me advice and genuinely helped me in my journey. My old label manager and current friend, Sammy as well. Without Sam I would’ve never made it out to Denver to meet so many incredible musicians that helped me get to where I am. Couple other shoutouts are Curtis (he goes by Eywade Dey on socials, great DJ) Veda, Jai, Kayla and Jade for befriending me when I didn’t have many local friends and Zana, Hunter, Hill, Baley, Austin and Izzy for being some of the best Colorado homies a person could have! Last but definitely not least, I have to thank my girlfriend Abby for being a wonderful support system me and my rock. I love you!
