We had the good fortune of connecting with Hollywoodd Tomlin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hollywoodd, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
“Giving up is easy anybody can do that, but continuing to push towards your dream even when it seems like nothing is working takes a strong minded person. You kinda have to pick your hard…. being broke is hard, yeah… but achieving success is also hard. I would rather work towards my goal, but also if I give up then its like I put in all this time for nothing. When you give up you kinda let yourself down but then also all the people that support you and are rooting for you. I’m not saying that there aren’t days when I feel like throwing all this s*** away & walking away, but I try to remember my WHY in what I’m doing & how far I have come. You never know when your time may come, the moment you give up could be the moment it’s time for you to SHINE.”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
“Not gone lie to you, I really planned out everything that you see. Some things worked, somethings didn’t but when things didn’t workI took a deeper look at why they didn’t and fixed it. I put in a lot of work & time honestly… my work ethic is crazy, I get that from my parents. They had me working at a young age, which taught me that nothing in life comes easy & when you work for it you appreciate it a little more you know. Another thing I did was embrace my failures, I used those to become successful. I’ve been reading alot more recently and in one of the books it talks about how struggle is not an option to be successful. Any body that is an expert at what they do had to overcome some type of struggle, so embrace it. Lol it won’t be easy but when you finally reach your goal your be thankful for the obstacles.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
“I really don’t go out when I’m back home, I mostly spend time with my family for the most part, that’s a big deal to me honestly, but first off I would bring them to my house for seafood night, where I’m from we cook our own seafood so that would have to be the first spot. After that we would prolly go Downtown Charleston, the market is down there & it’s a good bit of high end stores down there. I got a nice little spot on the roof top down there that I go to as well to grab a drink or two. Other food places I hit would be Bertha’s Kitchen… they got some great soul food, or I’ll also go to Chill N Grill for some wings !”

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
“I want to give a shoutout to God first because with out him I wouldn’t be able to do any of this. Next though I would love to say thank you to my family & friends, they push me and supported me from the beginning. If nobody else in this world believes in me I know that they do & I love them for that. I would also like to say shout out to the team behind me, they make everything that you see come to life. Without them it would take much longer for me to get these things done. It’s also a special feeling seeing each one of them grow because we all started this journey together, so I can’t wait to see where they take off too. Lastly I would like to give a shoutout to all my supports, I love them because they don’t have to support anything I do but they choose too, and I don’t take that for granted.”
