We had the good fortune of connecting with Harry Burgos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Harry, how do you define success?
I define success as the ability to find happiness and peace in life with ease. To me, it’s about taking deliberate steps to create a life where those two things are consistently within reach, regardless of challenges. Success isn’t just about achieving goals—it’s about the journey, the growth, and finding fulfillment in both personal and professional pursuits.
In the context of my business, success means building a company that speaks for itself. Ideally, I want CNB Renovations to grow into a household name, known for integrity, craftsmanship, and dedication, without the need for heavy marketing—just through word of mouth. That level of trust and reputation means the work we do is making a real impact in the lives of our clients.
More importantly, I view success as an opportunity to create something lasting for my family. With a business that continues to grow and thrive, I aim to set my family up for decades to come, creating opportunities for my children and their children that go far beyond financial stability. I want to build a legacy that empowers them to chase their dreams while also teaching them the value of hard work, resilience, and staying true to their principles.
At its core, success for me is about creating a life of meaning—not just for myself, but for everyone I love and for the people whose lives I touch through my work.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At CNB Renovations, we specialize in bathroom remodeling and tile work, with a strong focus on quality craftsmanship and personalized service. We’re dedicated to creating custom solutions that not only transform homes into functional and beautiful spaces but also reflect the unique needs and preferences of each client. What truly sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to transparency, professionalism, and delivering results that exceed expectations.
I take immense pride in the trust we’ve built with our clients over the years. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how our work has positively impacted their homes and lives. One of the innovations I’m most excited about is our signature waterproofing systems, which ensure durability and long-lasting value for every project we complete.
My journey to where I am today has been far from conventional. I started as a union-backed truck driver in NYC, where I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and persistence. Transitioning into the renovation industry was a challenge, but it’s one I embraced with a mindset of adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning. By always putting clients first and focusing on building strong relationships, CNB Renovations has grown into a trusted name in the community.
The biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way are to never compromise on quality, to invest in the people around you, and to stay true to your core values. At CNB Renovations, every project is personal. We’re not just remodeling spaces; we’re creating homes that people love and enjoy for years to come. That passion for what we do is at the heart of everything we stand for.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting me in the Low Country, I’d make sure their trip was packed with fun, relaxation, and a true taste of the Lowcountry. We’d start each day at the gym because staying active is a priority for me and a great way to energize for the day ahead. Then, each day would showcase some of my favorite local spots and activities that make this area so special.
On Monday, we’d kick things off at Topgolf in North Charleston. It’s the perfect spot for some friendly competition, great food, and an all-around good time. Even if my friend isn’t a golfer, the experience is always fun and memorable.
Tuesday would be all about delicious food and laid-back vibes at Triangle Char & Bar in West Ashley. Their menu never disappoints, and the atmosphere is inviting—ideal for catching up and enjoying a meal.
By Wednesday, it’s time to keep things simple with a visit to Benny Mazzetto’s in Summerville. Their massive pizza pies are iconic, and it’s a great place to grab a slice (or two!) and enjoy a relaxed evening.
On Thursday, we’d head over to Montreux Bar and Grill in Summerville. This spot has live music, great drinks, and a vibrant crowd. I used to work as a bouncer there, so it holds some great memories and is a great place to experience Summerville’s nightlife.
Friday would take us to King Street in downtown Charleston. King Street is the heart of the city’s energy and offers something for everyone. We’d enjoy some window shopping, explore the unique boutiques, and grab a bite to eat at one of the many incredible restaurants. Whether we’re sipping coffee at a local café or enjoying the lively nightlife, King Street is always buzzing with activity and makes for a fun day out.
Saturday would be all about the beach, with a trip to Folly Beach to soak up the sun and enjoy the coastal vibes. We’d start with a relaxing stroll along the shoreline, looking for shark teeth—a fun Lowcountry pastime that’s always an adventure. Afterward, we’d spend the day lounging by the water, exploring the pier, and taking in the laid-back, vibrant atmosphere that makes Folly so special. To top it all off, we’d grab seafood from one of the beachfront restaurants while watching the waves roll in.
Sunday would be a mix of family time and football. We’d start the day slow with breakfast at home and spend time with my kids, whether it’s playing games, heading to a park, or just hanging out together. Family is everything to me, and Sundays are a great day to reflect and reconnect. Later in the afternoon, we’d settle in to watch football, make some wings, and enjoy a cozy end to a busy week.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to Misha of WINNI Designs, a content creator based in New Hampshire. I had the pleasure of meeting him at the Coverings Convention, where we shared ideas about innovation and creativity in our respective fields. WINNI Designs has built an impressive following on social media by focusing on authenticity and engagement, which has served as a great reminder of the value of connecting with your audience. It’s inspiring to meet professionals who are passionate about their work and dedicated to excellence, no matter the industry.
I also want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible support I’ve received from my local community here in the Lowcountry. It’s been truly inspiring to work alongside many passionate, dedicated individuals and businesses. The trust and encouragement from my clients have been essential to CNB Renovations’ growth, and it’s been a privilege to help transform their homes into spaces they love.
Beyond my clients, I’m grateful for the camaraderie and collaboration with other local small business owners. It’s a tight-knit network here, and the way we all support each other, whether through word of mouth or shared resources, is something I don’t take for granted. Whether it’s the talented craftsmen, contractors, or artisans in the area, or even the local shops and restaurants that make this place feel like home, everyone’s contributions help to create a thriving, vibrant community. I’m truly fortunate to be part of such a supportive environment that allows businesses like mine to grow and succeed.
